Hyundai is offering 0% for 36 months now to Jan 3rd, so I'm assuming the market is getting soft, quickly or it's a end of year thing?

Hyundai Sante Fe w/ 2.5t
Ford Maverick has me interested but don't know much about it.


More interested in your experience with the actual market, not so much opinions on what to buy, but this is the Pit and it's impossible to stop you fockers from getting off topic and arguing.

Forced induction is nearly a must because 5280. *The Rav4 Prime is hybrid w/ 301 HP and should be fairly peppy at altitude due to electric motors. AWD/4WD is pretty much a must.

Will be selling/trading my 2014 Tacoma Sport w/ supercharger (113,000).

I would sell your Tacoma vs trade in as used Tacoma's are selling at crazy prices right now. And a dealer isn't going to give you more than what blue book says it's worth.

I can also tell you I will never buy another Honda because a friend of mines brother is a high up at Honda and says they have intentionally been withholding shipping new cars to lots to create this false hyper demand crap so they can charge these insane prices. Know who made record profits all during the pandemic? Honda. So yeah. Good luck. I’d recommend not buying a new car if you can avoid it.

Used Toyota’s were even worse. I wanted a 4Runner but the cheapest I could find was a 2017 with almost 100k on it and they still wanted $37,800 for it. A 6 year old SUV with 100k on it for almost $40k? No thanks.

Should have sold my truck a year ago. It was worth more than I paid for it. I have a 2020 Chevy Colorado Zr2 Bison. At this point it's probably considered "Highly Modified ". Last year it blue booked for 3k more than I bought it for. Now it's worth less than MSRP. Even though I've got thousands into building it up better than limp dick engineers and marketing folks.

Crazy market, we keep getting offers to buy our 2020 GMC back for what we paid or more. Of course, what they want us to replace it with probably costs twice what we paid. Think I’ll stick around with what we have for a while.

The Vehicle the GMC replaced is still a daily driver of sorts, a 2000 3/4 ton Suburban with almost 300,000. Brenda said she could no longer trust it for trips to our son’s home (500 miles) after it had one (1) breakdown on a local road. A through dashboard heater hose fitting tube gave it up, and the old girl still got me back to a safe parking area over a mile away without overheating.

Gotta love old workhorses that keep on keeping on.

Did the tranny flush, coolant, transfer case, diffs, plugs and front brakes about a year ago when I hit 100,000. Not one issue beyond maintenance since I bought. Third battery, about a week or so ago, and a serpentine belt at 80,000. It was showing wear. I'm thinking some new coil overs and shocks and just keeping it though.

the current market sitrep is this: interest rates are 6% or more, which affects your monthly payment; and gasoline prices are awful, which affects your monthly cost of ownership. decent used cars are almost as expensive as new cars, and many new cars are dropping features because of chip issues, in addition to multiple price hikes in the last calendar year. So you are paying much more for less. Plus, by 2026 30% of new cars will be electric, so your resale value will suck.

I never buy modified used vehicles. I want the bone stock one to modify myself. I don't need to strip things I don't like and redo work from a crappy shop (learned this the hard way, wiring is a mechanics kryptonite).

Only mod I've ever kept in a truck is a big sky ceiling rifle rack.


The worst thing about the Colorado is the flimsy frame that bends if you look at the bump stops wrong. That was the biggest used value killer on them for a long time. Not that they sell very well to begin with, we sold 10x more fullsizes than canyons.

I have bought 2 new Tacomas this year.

First one in February. In My area Toyotas sell as fast as they are unloaded off the truck. Some dealers had 10k mark ups and had none on the lot. Only 2 dealers near me sold at MSRP. They had almost no inventory. The Tacoma I bought in February was totaled in July.Insurance paid out 3k more than I paid for the truck.

Second one I bought in August. Same situation. Very little inventory to choose from. still selling as fast as they come off the truck. Some dealers asking crazy mark ups over MSRP

I don't think inventory will improve any time soon. Go with Toyota. Its a quality product with good resale value. Now may be the time to buy I hear Toyota is raising prices next year.

I bought a one year old vehicle just last week. Traveled 15-hours one way to get it.

Did quite a bit of market analysis, and watched (AutoTrader) for weeks to see were inventory was moving, and where it's stagnant. Called many dealerships and started haggling over the phone.

It's a shell game when trading in another vehicle, but l ended up getting the vehicle for for less than what KBB showed as trade in value, and was given retail price for my trade in, saving around $15K. Yes, I know that sounds crazy as it's usually the opposite, pay retail, and only get a fraction of retail on the trade-in.

I couldn't sell my old vehicle locally being a 2008, even though it had only 35K miles, no one was interested, and dealers were just giving me low-ball offers to buy it outright without a trade in.

Picture of my new ride, with the trade in behind it as I'm pulling the last of my personal items out. Only 200 imported in Dark Magnetic Gray, and the last year of production. Getting oversized 275/65-18's installed on it Friday. Will be putting the Bilstein 6112-5160 suspension upgrade on it soon.

I have 'preferred customer' status and get a big price break so its actually less than Mobile One and a better product. I change every 10K or so. I had a buddy who drove his 18 wheeler with the filtration system and sent in samples. He ran 180K before a change.

If you are high altitude, then it is also cooler. You could run 87 in the winter, put a meth kit on it for towing and summer and use methanol windshield washer fluid.

I want to like the Ridgeline but:
1) Tow capacity for trailering a 2800lb & steel trailer

Raising prices? they fucking crazy! Their shit is already beyond high for what it is, imo. I’ve always owned Toyota’s because I’ve always thought they were well built and lasted. But they are very simple compared to options on other cars! With that said that’s one thing I really like about them. But raising their prices even higher than they already are is insane! This has to stop at some point. Frankly I don’t know how people afford them as is. Run of the mill SUVs in my area new were easily approaching $60k-$70k. And I’m sorry but I don’t feel as if any daily driver is worth that kind of coin.

Looks really nice! What did you wind up paying? At the end of the day, I know Ford has come a long way, but it’s still a Ford. I owned a few 2006 and older and well they were always problematic and left a lot to be desired! With that said, today’s Ford is not the same but I haven’t felt I could make the jump. Took delivery on a Rav4 TRD Off Road today. Sold the Tacoma for $25,000 w/ 116,000 miles to the first serious buyer.

3.99% from Toyota.
