Why does the search option suck so bad?

I tried to search "Dillon super swage" in the advanced tab, in the specific forum and nothing came up other than for sale items like rifles, etc. Not one thing for the specific search. I tried to search for other items also, I even copied and pasted a specific title, and it brought up a ton of other stuff and not the one title I copied and pasted.

Anyone else having these issues?

When searching with multiple words, you have to use quotes around the word set. Searching for <span style="color: #FF0000">Dillon Super Swage</span> will pull up every post with the words <span style="color: #FF0000">Dillon</span> or <span style="color: #FF0000">Super</span> or <span style="color: #FF0000">Swage</span> in it. That of course can be a ton of posts. Searching instead for <span style="color: #FF0000">"Dillon Super Swage"</span> only pulls up posts with that exact word set in them.

I ran that search that way, and here is what I came up with:

Every single result contained that exact word set, including your OP. Try it with the quotes and you might be surprised with the relevance of the search results.

Plus it helps if you check the date range, most people don't change it so it is only look at one week and not beyond that...

Since I changed the format for the search I will say the problem is more "operator error" than system limitation

Re: Why does the search option suck so bad?

Good morning,

Is there a way to do an advanced search with the Google sniper's hid search engine? Perhaps search by date, or folder?

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration!

Warmest regards,
Rob

Try the "advanced" search in the top left. Date range and forum selection are both available. Read the search tips there for some more advice on how to use it right.

I used to use exclusively the Google search, but ever since I took the time to learn how to use the internal search function I haven't been back since. Makes it an easy way to exclude all the for sale posts.

Re: Why does the search option suck so bad?

Thanks, Redmanss.

I'd been using both the google and the advanced search and switching back and forth as needed, but I wasn't sure if there was a way with google that I wasn't aware of. Sounds like the advanced search is really the ticket when filtering is necessary.

Wasn't sure if I was missing something, but I think you've answered that for me.

Thanks for taking the time to help.

Warmest regards,
Rob
