This is why I like LaRue Tactical!!

IMG00360-20110413-1919.jpg

I only ordered a scope mount and received, a Scope mount, Dillo Dust seasoning, beverage entry tool, 2 small Larue stickers and 2 large Larue stickers. I only payed for the scope mount and did not ask for the extras. I am not in the cool high speed "in crowd". They just sent them with my order.

I was on the fence between the Bobro and the Larue mount. After hearing a lot about both, I figured that Larue is made in Texas so I'd give them the business. I did not tell LaRue this when I placed the order either. It is the little things and the customer service that make customers happy.

Attention to detail and customer support is what makes great companies!

Gotta love Texan's

Either way, LaRue makes the best optic mounts hands down, so its nice to get a high quality product and a few extras.

What makes them better than Bobro, GDI, or ADM?

You can remove that cap on pretty much any cap.

That has not happened with mine. I run a LaRue mount with T1 on my SBR, it's been on/off constantly with no POI shift. I also run their SPR on my SR15 with USO. Not been on/off as much but I've only had it for 2 months.

But just 1 guys experience & opinion.

Re: Why I like LaRue Tactical

Ive ordered light/laser mounts from him in the past. Never again.
The one scope mount I have of his never holds zero when I take it off to clean my Mk12.

While he makes some nice mounts I cant justify the cost anymore when you factor in all the "free stuff". It's not free, its compensated for in the price of the mounts. But you get all the warm and fuzzies thinking it's free, making you come back as a repeat customer. Its a common selling tactic. It works, good for him.

I just rather do business with a company that doesn't think its the greatest things since sliced bread and blatantly disrespect every other company with his snide remarks on barfcom

Thats just my stance.

Re: Why I like LaRue Tactical

I bought a quad rail from them for my carbine and thought I got the wrong order at first as I had never ordered from them before.

A bag, a hat, dillo dust, bumper stickers, all of that.

When I realized what it was I knew right away that this stuff isn't 'free' but its factored into the price; as all things are with any company.

Now the question is, is this stuff as good as its competitors who I see mainly priced slightly above LaRue's stuff? So far my rail has been abused and hasn't noticed.

+1. There are mounts out there that work just as well, if not better. Cut the BS "free stuff" and reflect it in the prices. I'll buy my seasoning, rub, whatever, at the grocery store.

Re: Why I like LaRue Tactical

i buy stuff for the dillo dust, I throw the mounts or whatever in a pile and use the dildo dust. Basically im down with the $195 bottle of steak rub, its THAT delicious

Re: Why I like LaRue Tactical

The "free" stuff is the result of buying from the manufacturer. LaRue would rather sell directly to their customers for about twice the price and throw in all of that stuff than sell to distributors. Cutting back on the "free" stuff would just remove an incentive to buy directly from LaRue--it's only in the distributor's interest, not the manufacturer's or the customers'. Of course, a lot of companies take the opposite approach--sell their own products at retail and let dealers sell at a discount in order to get more dealer support and more exposure.

Re: Why I like LaRue Tactical

I screwed up and ordered 30mm rings for my SPR-1.5 a few years ago. I emailed them and they sent me a set of 1"ers, another hat, another entry tool, more stickers and more dillo dust all for $0 more dollars. Pretty cool. Mine maintains zero also, (as far as I can tell) with my 16" AR15

Re: Why I like LaRue Tactical

I've seen Larue do some pretty nice stuff at no cost for guys who needed it. It didn't make the news or the Internet. It was just done.

I'm not defending him against everyone's beer opener and brisket rub aggression. I'm just saying he may be a little less of the a-hole you think he is.

Re: Why I like LaRue Tactical

Someone tell me what the hell is dildo dust? Is it kinda like dry graphite lube for the ladies?
Does Larue send this in the hope of soothing the ladies temperament when they get the credit card bill?

Re: Why I like LaRue Tactical

Im sure I haven't seen all of his quotes but if my shop built four (or however many it was) of the top ten guns used by snipers in a competition and the winning sniper team was using my shops gas gun that beat out the other teams with bolt guns.... I'd be posting about it too. Heard he talked smack about other companies, guess thats not too cool/businessmanly

If you've ever tried to eat dildo without it, you'd get it.

To the contrary, that is one of their best features.

I have scopes that come off weekly(or close) for practice shooting irons, and it amazes me every time that they go right back to zero. They work 100% for me.

ETA- Not long ago I bought a Bobro to try out on a 1-4 on an AR. It was tough because I love the LaRue mounts and the Bobro cost quite a bit more. After using it, I think the Bobro is a nice mount, but I like the LaRue's better. If the Bobro was cheaper than the LaRue, I would still buy the LaRue, so I definitely wont pay more for the Bobro.

Re: Why I like LaRue Tactical

I just ordered a $70 bipod mount from them and got all the same swag. I literally laughed out loud when I saw the dillo dust and the bottle opener was icing on the cake. Too funny.

So is that stuff any good? I wanna grill some ribs this weekend but don't wanna ruin em if it's junk.

Re: Why I like LaRue Tactical

Freebies don't necessarily come out of the customer's pocket, and every business does not have the same operating efficiency or margins. LaRue may run a tighter ship than Competitor X, allowing him to sell equivalent quality for a lower price while still throwing in goodies. Mark may be peculiar but he produces great product and steps right up to help the tip-of-the-spear customers. So if it makes him happy to send me dillo dust then I'll take it. And those bumper stickers look great on the Prius.

THIS!

My take on LaRue; F*CK that guy! I wouldn't give him the sweat off my balls if he was dying of thirst in the desert!

KYS338, you aren't the only one who will have NO dealings with someone who will blatantly disrespect and bash other competitors, as I've seen him do on barfcom and YouTube as well.

Curious as to why you remove your scope to clean the rifle.

Don't preferably like gun scrubber dripping onto my scopes lens.... I hardly ever see someone clean a AR15 platform with their expensive optic still attached.

It is a small celebration around the house every time we break out the Dillo Dust....seriously though...I won't use anything but Larue mounts anymore. Their mounts are the only ones I am willing to bet my life on and their customer service can't be beat. I can't even count the number of times that my mounts (and I have so many of them I should own stock in the company) have been on and off the guns....they return to zero every time...you can abuse Larue stuff and it keeps on providing rock solid performance year after year.... Honestly...once you use them you have to wonder why you ever bought anything else in the past but you will never again wonder what you will buy in the future!

Re: Why I like LaRue Tactical

you're willing to bet your life on mounts that don't always return to zero? good, more oxygen for the rest of us, lol. With 2 posts to your name, you just look like a shill... so you'll pardon me if I don't give your opinion much weight.

I still have some LaRue stuff around here but my life doesn't depend on my bipod mount, so it doesn't bother me. I do like the dillo dust though, it's tasty. I think a lot of LaRue's gear is fine (rails, etc) and I do like what he has done with the harris bipod conversions. The CS is excellent, I can attest to that... mark gave me a free lt-170 in light of another company's failure to back their product. However, I still don't particularly like the way he behaves on the internet... especially at barfcom.

I'm not saying you should swear off LaRue, rather just making the point that the pseduo-saintly fanboy shit is getting rather tired. I fully intend to keep running some of his stuff, and i'm sure we will do business again for a bipod or something else non-critical. I'm just leery to trust any sort of QD optics mount, especially one that has been proven inconsistent in rigorous testing. Not saying every unit is that way, obviously some guys are very lucky. I just don't care to risk it. Guarantees are nice but that only helps after the fact, not while chasing game (or heaven forbid, people).

Re: Why I like LaRue Tactical

Got me some more tasty dillo dust yesterday with my lt-104 mount I ordered haha.

This is my first qd mount I ordered from Larue. My weapon is for hunting/recreation and my life doesnt depend on my AR.

My main reason I went with Larue is I like the idea of supporting a Texas business. I cant speak on their politics and how he acts on other forums. If I dont like it or have problems with return to zero, I will return it.

Re: Why I like LaRue Tactical

I have been using a Larue SPR mount, and I regularly take it off when cleaning. It returns to zero every time just as advertised. My only complaint is that due to the design, I cannot read my scope turrets while looking through the scope as I can on my Nightforce Unimount.

As for his comments, I don't see any problem with having pride in your products; he has certainly earned that. If a person has an issue with him being overly proud, there is also nothing wrong with them choosing not to buy his products... Maybe this is a direct result of the mentality that we don't keep score at little league games, so know one gets their feelings hurt.

Quite simply, if you don't like the guy or his products for whatever reason, just don't buy them. It seems like if you don't like his stuff because of the way he bashes people on the internet; to bash him and his products on the internet pretty much makes you a hypocrite.
