I have a couple of leupold mark 4's that seem to blur when I put them over a black target. I am refering to the reticle. It is fine over natural targets, I.e. rocks and such. My uso St 10 does not do this. Any ideas, focus, paralax?

Thanks

Re: why is my reticle fuzzy over a black shoot and see

Which reticles do you have? Your question is rather difficult given the amount of variables. Is this outside, indoor, light conditions etc.

I say this because the physiology of the eye has the rod receptors on the peripheral portion of the retina. These are the receptors that pick up black and white. They are used in more of low light conditions and have less spatial acuity. In daylight the central part of the retina takes over and has better spatial acuity. So if the Leupold has a more pronounced reticle (black on black) I can see this happening.

Try looking through the other eye also to see if there is a difference. Also check this test out, http://www.cteyes.org/CMS/default.asp?CMS_PageID=399

If the grid around looks wavy or spotty you may need to see your eye doc.
