Why is RRS Anvil out of stock everywhere?

From what little I know, the company moved their location which slowed manufacturing down. They are also waiting on raw materials which is also slowing down production. All that, while at the same time their popularity and sales in the shooting sports has increased significantly.

Thanks @Michael Victor. Yes the Anvil-30 ballhead has a pretty big back-order right now. I try and push out a batch every week or so as they come off the machine and we can coat them and assemble them. So a few easy reasons since you asked why:
1. Moving took scheduled manufacturing time away from us. Setting up the machines in new location semi halted by construction issues.
2. Popularity of the Anvil and how many options you can buy it as. Hard to keep one item listing in-stock, let alone 8. Every once in awhile you will see a certain listing or option go in stock, but it usually only lasts that day.
3. We try to make as much as possible ourselves in our machines. We also use mainly custom parts and custom screws. We have A LOT of other parts to manufacture besides just the Anvil-30. A bummer for me, but it is another part of the business.

For a timeline for you folks, all current orders as of today should be fulfilled by End December if not sooner as long as there are no issues.

If you want one sooner than later, put your name down for an order. We don't actually charge till it ships. So if you are able to find one in stock somewhere else before hand, you can cancel the order (most likely won't happen often)

You might try B&H Photo or Adorama Camera. They carry a lot of RRS. Also, look at Gitzo tripods and ball heads. Very good units, and slightly less expensive than RRS. Shooters compete with photographers for the limited stock from RRS.

The reason I really like Really Right Stuff is because they are one of the only Tripod companies making shooter specific components and tripods designed by and for shooters. There are a ton of photography companies that would like to sell you their photography stuff, but shooters use the equipment significantly differently, and its nice some companies are realizing that and supporting shooters by making equipment specific to shooters.

I ordered mine direct yesterday when I couldn't find an Anvil 30 anywhere in stock. Like some of the RRS guys said above you may have to wait a little bit for it. Last time I ordered something that wasn't in stock it shipped like a week later.
