I don't think the constitution gives you freedom from a mask order during a pandemic anymore than it gives you the right to wander around without wearing clothes in public.

They have a limited authority to order masks to be worn in public, specifically in a severe enough public health crisis that warrants them. What warrants them? That's specifically left to our elected local and state leaders, who are accountable to us, their constituents.

Now, you asked if I would stand in opposition. Does a government get more power during a “pandemic“? No, they don’t. So how are mayors and governors making Law? What’s the appellate process for these determinations? What is our recourse?

The government has no rights or powers which don’t come from consent. None of these offices have been empowered to make law.

What about the precedent of natural law. I can’t tell you, my neighbor, to wear a mask or to close his business. So how do I gather ten more men, call ourselves a government, and now magically gather powers we didn’t have individually? By force of numbers?

What will the basis of your opposition to local government be, if not the Constitution? Emotional pleas, threats, an appeal to common good, what will stand in the place of the Law of the Land?

We impeached our mayor here in Norman, OK petition signed by 22500 people, town only has a 100k people. She won her last election with 5000 votes. She isn’t gone, won’t be for months. Yes, however I said that because H2O is a smaller molecule so figured people would put two and two together. Also, water vapor that is exhaled has some CO2 that is absorbed into the water aggregate. Viral particles in a droplet or aggregate of droplets would be even larger. These would be stopped (mostly) by the "appropriate" mask. Key word is appropriate, which very few people have access to. Evonik just developed a mask with an interesting 3 layered system that is patent pending.
I think everyone or most everyone here knows the surgical masks and cloth masks aren't stopping a whole lot. Masks could potentially be effective if the correct ones were used.

Well, I will tell that this is how I see the mask issue in general. First and foremost it is a personal decision. The attempt to "communize" it, that you are doing it for your neighbor, was a fraud. I keep mine in my car. If I need to go into a store, it goes on, when I come out, it comes off. I haven't been to a restaurant for a few years, so I don't know how that part works.

A proposition that is, perhaps a better way to look at masks: All things being equal, the wearing of masks is helpful in keeping down the spread of covid. However, if wearing a mask causes the wearer to act more recklessly in other ways, the utility of the mask is highly diminished and can even become a negative.

Why don't you go find us one shred of evidence or one study that shows masks work. Not hearsay, not some virtue signaling fucktard, Not some alphabet talking head who has been caught lying about the virus 10 times already. We just want the "science" these people claim to be following. While we are it, contact tracing, lock downs, and quarantines for healthy people are also out according to their studies.

The issue is these tests cannot be %100 controlled which is why we see inconclusive variability. Test design is key and unfortunately, to my knowledge, a good test has yet to be designed.

Every school in Colorado, and every BOCES, is receiving a new box of N95 masks, straight from China, bought by the state government every week. Every school in Colorado bought an electronic device for every student, from China, so they can do remote learning in the event of a lockdown. We have had 5, 2 week lockdowns of entire classes, at the schools our BOCES serves, all on presumed positive cases, and all classes were told to continue quarantine even when the negative test results were received. One of our psychs, was also told to continue to quarantine for two weeks even if the test was negative. This was in writing from the County Health Department.

I have no clue if masks work or how effective they are...
I am a healthy 32 year old, I’m not afraid of the virus. (My dad did was infected in April, and got pneumonia on both lungs, still has effect on his health). I do think it’s very real.
I wear a mask as a sign of gratitude for my health, to pay it forward to those that are less fortunate.
I wear it to show my solidarity with the Health care workers who are sacrificing so much to help people survive serious illness, and to those who can’t get procedures done because hospitals are overflowing.
I wear it so I don’t scare the shit out of the little old lady at the store, and make her feel comfortable being out of her house .
I wear it to share in the plight the millions of people that lost their income due to the governments forced closure of their business, in their desperate attempt to slow the spread.
I wear it to do whatever I can to chip in, even if it isn’t effective. It’s an emblem of caring about others besides myself, and that I am only one of many and not important.
I will continue to wear it regardless of mandates or not, because I believe it is my civic duty.
