Check this video out, very insightful and may answer questions about AK accuracy or rather lack thereof. Here's a stamped AKM in slow motion high speed video. Check out the barrel flex and receiver flex at the front trunion.

I've always heard milled AK's are more accurate than stamped recievers. I have also heard stamped Chinese AK47's are more accurate than stamped AKM's. I can now see why a thicker reciever and heavier barrel like on the Chinese Type 56 (true AK47) could be more accurate than an AKM (modernized, lighter AK).

That may be the case for a lot of weapons though. I watched slow-mo footage of an AS-50 on I think futureweapons, and it flexed just as bad if not worse than that.

My understanding is that the round itself has some pretty major inadequacies including the cartridge shoulder, as well as the projectile itself, that also limit the inherent precision of the AK platform.

all gun barrels have a wave effect flex, some more than others, its all about getting the same flex each shot and the less it flexes the better chance you have of doing that.

But clearly with this vid one could see why a full auto AK would not be very accurate even when not factoring in muzzle climb and the shooter.

like turning a hose on full blast and hanging onto it a few feet behind the nozzle

And? We've been through this a million times. AKs are plenty accurate what they were designed for...no less, no more.

I was thrilled to be able hold 3 MOA with iron with my new milled Bulgy the other day, and the irons suck, and/or my eyes aren't what they used to be.

I'm hoping a 2 MOA Aimpoint T1 will improve on that a little. But hey, it's an AK. 12 inch groups at 400 are still lethal.

There is one of the "Best sniper rifles shows" on TV, they had a semi auto 50 that they were going over (not the 107) They showed a slow mo shot of it going off. THe amount of flex it was showing was amazing considering the amount of accuracy that they could get.

^^^ this

It is interesting, nonetheless, to see the harmonic vibration oscillate back down the barrel after the shot.

But as much as that bbl is flexing, I wonder how much it would affect full auto burst fire even at short range?

That would be a game changer.

They make a "National Match" AK-47 with a milled receiver. I've always wondered which nation and which match. Don't think you'll see one at Camp Perry.
