So a couple of days ago we lost one of our free range chickens. Looking around the property I found some feathers and some coyote tracks. Told the wife, and it was a sad evening since she's attached to her small flock of chickens. Next AM the wife's letting our small dogs out and going to open the chicken coop when she see's a "furry tail" running away from the fenced in coop....The coop is only 10 yards from the house.... Runs back inside and grabs her Tikka .223 bolt gun. Runs back outside and sees the coyote 50 yards away looking at her. She put the cross hairs on it's head and.... 1 dead coyote. 69gr SMK went in between and just above the eyes and exited out just off center at the back of the head. Entire top of the skull was "mush".
