Will Burris make a XTR3 LPVO?

Anyone have any idea, hint, or have I missed a thread about it? They have illuminated models coming out now. Second phase of testing possibly? I would love to see a direct competitor against the vortex 1-10 and atacr 1-8. I had the 5.5-30 on my nrl22 setup and currently got a 3.3-18 on my mk12 style rifle. Love the SCR2 just wish it was a bit thicker on the lower mag range. Would love a 1-8/10 come on Burris.

Curious to what you would expect Burris to offer that isn't already an option, I don't see a need for Burris to offer any new 1-8 optic unless it does something the others don't.

I don't see how they could modify the SCR2 reticle to make and sense in a LVPO, the tree portion on the reticle would need to be fundamentally different to be at al useful in the 3-7x mag range, it's likely they'd just end up with another reticle that looks like the EBR-9.

If Burris made a 1-8ish LVPO that came in at less than $1100 (to keep in line with XTR3i pricing) had great glass and a usable reticle it'd be something worth buying, but if they just did another $2000 LVPO that is like the Razor or ATACR with a different name I don't see it'd be worth their while entering the market.

Now if Burris did a 2-14x36 with a .06mil thick stadia reticle, then I'd be interested.
Once you get below about 2.5x and the closer to 1x your get a standard FFP "long range style" reticle gets considerably more useless but down to only 2-2.5x a thick stadia central cross does pretty well.

I've spoken to the production manager about this within the last couple of months. They have some ideas they are working on, but it just depends on if they feel like there is a market for it.

The XTRII 1-8 made for them by LOW was an excellent LPVO at <$1000. But they feel like it didn't do as well as it should have. Maybe now that they are enjoying a larger piece of the marketshare with the XTRIII they could roll out a $900 8x in the XTR3i.

It's a matter of deciding if they want to take one to market, or do they spend R&D money on a 18x or 36x XTR Pro?

I don't think many here grasp the complexities involved in deciding how to expand a product line.

A few guys saying "yeah, that's a good idea" on the internet is not gonna move the needle.

It's a complex decision. Burris is moving into markets and product price points they've never participated in before. They've expanded into a large thermals market, as well as some other products we dont really talk about here. And it's been going very well for them. They've had really good growth these last few years.

So they're choosing their next steps wisely in regards to new product development.

I’ve got 7 XTR2 1-8x SFP and love that scope. It’s tough to beat it sub 1k or even 1500.00 for that matter. Good eye box, dot is dsy light bright in all situations I’ve been in.

If they are looking for suggestions, I would like more elevation adjustment in the 5-30 PRO. If I could get 35-40 mil of elevation, I would buy 2-3 more. A couple for rimfire and one for the elr rig. I also like the idea of a 6-36 as long as it came with more elevation adjustment.

I have a Burris 1-8 FFP made by low and it's one of my absolute LPVO favorite but I use my LPVO for short range hunting and not for CQB match so I don't care about nuclear bright/red dot capabilities. Shot a bear with it last fall.

My next lpvo will probably be the vudu 1-10.

It's a shame the Burris XTR ii 1-8 didn't do as well on the market, it truly was a remarkable optic ahead of its time.

Burris just needs to work on their marketing. In a day of instagram/youtube influencers, a perceived "budget brand" needs to send off a bunch of free scopes for review. Primary Arms and Arken, love them or hate them, has nailed it down and has a cult like following because everyone on youtube and instagram has connections with them and gives them press.

Only a few companies can make products and have them do well with no marketing like Nightforce and Leupold

I think it was koshkin who suggested a 1-7x24 with a daylight bright reticle and huge FOV as the other XTR IIIs sport the largest FOVs in their class from my understanding. I like this idea personally, it would be something a bit different and if they could do it for $1100 or less I think they would sell.

Also, the 1-8 SFP XTRII was outstanding and so underrated. Clean glass, nuclear bright, a tad heavy but that was consistent several years ago. I agree with the other poster about marketing, it may not be their niche but they should of been sending those to every "tactical/shooting" YouTube reviewer on the market just for exposure. It's a shame more competition and tactical shooters didn't know about them.
