For years I've heard that .22LR shot out of a rifle will defeat a standard kevlar vest.

So I had to find out. I got my hands on a 20 year old decomissioned vest and gave it a run with High Velocity Federal solid point 22 rounds, check it out...

Hmm, I wonder if it matters if it's HV and a solid point.

They tell us our vests aren't guarranteed to stop a .22 LR.

I shot both HV solid points and hollow points at it... stopped everything, it wasn't even close to penetrating. The point blank shot we took didn't even make it to the second layer of the vest.

hey I just looked at another flic from the ones you posted and watched a huy let his drunk friend shoot him with a 9mm and the bulllet went through.WHAT A BIG DUMB ASS THAT WAS.but really liked the test you did all so.

I would not suggest wearing the armor while testing it.

I had a nearly 25 year old, woven style vest. I shot it 7 times at about 25 yards and had not one pass through.

I've got one of those old vest's too, I always wondered if it was even worth keeping around, looks like I'll keep it after all.
