Wilson Combat 308 barrel

I cannot tell you who makes the barrels. But, I have had one that consistently got 1.25-1.50 MOA groups. I know thats not amazing numbers compared to bolt guns. But, for me with a large frame AR that was fairly good. I traded it with a friend of mine and he says he is getting better groups. He may be a better shooter than me, haha.

All but (2) AR-10’s now have a wilson combat barrel. Word is at one time they sourced there blanks from er shaw but had to meet WC specs. I could never get a straight answer from either. I believe now it’s all in house.

My experience has been very positive. I plan to pick up a 260 Rem when they have there 30% off sale after thanksgiving. I would put them against faxon, BA, Rainier/Shilen. I had one issue with gas port on my 6.5 CM. So far a 308, 6 CM, and 6.5 CM are all consistent .75 MOA but only taken them out to 300 yds.

Specifically speaking to the 308, it did not produce groups better than 1.25-1.5 with top tier ammo. My hand loads cut that dramatically. I have found that out of the (3) 308’s all 18” SS Fluted none have liked 175/178gr. Everything has been 150, 155, 168. Also, all have preferred IMR 4064 over varget, which is annoying but I can live with it.

FYI, I determine accuracy in AR’s by 3 shot groups not 5 like bolt actions.

I have a WC .308 Super Sniper 18" barrel on my AR10. It shoots sub moa .75" 5 shot groups with FGMM 168gr factory loads. I still get decent groups around 1moa with some 150gr factory hunting ammo too. I reload for it now with Sierra 168gr match kings and still get around .75 moa groups but better velocities than the factory ammo. Overall I'm really happy with it.
