I have enjoyed the 1897 for many years now, sold my others off and this is what's left. Action has been cold blued, barrel is still original or what's left of original finish, it was damaged at the end and was cut down to 18.5".
Shoots well, I have the military sling for it but I don't feel the need for the heat shield and I don't care much for the look. Call this more of a riot gun.
My gun is from 1924 and I'd advise anyone who's actually shooting theirs to take it to a gunsmith and get the chamber touched up to the correct length. Yes, it's supposed to 2 3/4, but mine was a little short. Going to be tougher with a solid frame though. Takedowns are just easy
