I friend of mine has a newer model Win 70 in .270. The rifle has a feed problem. When you close the bolt the rear of the bullet will pop up and in some instances pop all the way out of the action, in others it is like a reversed stove pipe with the base of the round sticking out of the half closed bolt.

This is a stock M70 with an internal mag. With semi's I've seen feed problems like this related to mag lips. Any ideas how to fix this one? I've never worked on a M70 and I didn't take his apart to see if there is anything that can be adjusted.

I recommend he return it to Browning/Winchester, particularly if it is new FN manufacture (serial number starts with 35A). Unless he has taken it apart and reassembled incorrectly, there is very little to go wrong. If the problem is on Winchester, they'll correct the issue under warranty. If not, they may charge. Service Center address in the the back of the Owners Manual. I'd call Customer Service first to discuss.
