Gunsmithing Win70 receiver mod and stock question

Good Morning.
If a Winchester model 70 SA-.308 receiver is modified by a competent gunsmith for the XLR chassis, can the barreled action be placed back into the original hinged floor plate stock and function properly? I would like the option(original) in the future if need be and it would go into the chassis if done.

I certainly appreciate the help. I mentione competent as I've seen nicely done ones and others that appear to be done with a hand drill and chisel.

If the M70 is "modified" it would depend on what was done to it. The best methid is to modify the cheapest or easiest replaceable part. I would think it best to modify the stock, or simply buy a stock that fits to begin with.

Are you refering to the slight milling of the magwell area of the receiver to fit the AICS mag? This is required to use an AICS mag in any winchester/fn action, no matter what stock. If so, that will make no difference if you try to use the action in a different Winnie stock. If the XLR requires additional mods I suggest you ask XLR.

Yes, to accept the AI magazines. So to clarify, once hte AI mag mod is done on the W70 receiver, if I wanted to place the MODIFIED barreled action back into the factory stock with hinged floor plate, it will function as designed without issue?

Asm I understand there's no different mod to the receiver to accept the XLR as the chassis is machined to accept the factory receiver as is, other than the area in front of the mag.

A little over my head since I've never worked with the AICS mags, But...

The Win 70 magazine design doesn't give much room to play around since any repositioning of the mag feed lips side to side or front to back will cause feeding problems.

Now if you want to run the AICS mags in the factory stock, that can be done pretty easily with proper bottom metal.

But as far as switching mags back and forth?: No.
