Thinking of trying this powder under a 150gr bullet. Is the burn rate good for DI weapons? I have been using IMR4895 but it is hard to find in my area.

Then use H4895 or IMR 4064, RL15 or Varget. They were designed for 308, I think.

btw, what's a DI weapon? Might be obvious but I don't know.

Direct Impingement?

If yes, these powders work, I think. But we used to use 748 in 308 but I don't remember the bullet, application or the rifle configuration. Check with Zediker: Loading for the M-14.

I have only used with 168gr SMK bullets but with that i use 42GR W748, Win Large Rifle Primers, LC Milsurp Brass, can't remember the AOL, i know its to specs but don't have mt data here with me know, hope this helps some.

748 is good stuff, works well in 30-06 garand loads and 223 loads as well as 308. As far as burn rate goes a DI AR =/= Garand, no op rod to bend so don't worry about that.

If you don't mind surplus powders an old geezer I shoot with swears by WC846 for his 223 and 308 loads. Just be careful if you go that route as according to him the powder varies a lot batch to batch.

Re: Win748 in AR-10 .308win platform

I use Varget and 4064 in my DPMS 308 and I've had very good results.. I did try 748 with a 168SMK, it shot ok but I did notice that it seems to be VERY DIRTY for a DI. All that crap seems to get blown right back onto the bolt and even a bit through the space around the charging handle.
