I have been wondering if I really need to spend the extra money on Lapua 243 brass for prs type of competition. I should note that I will be running a 243 ackley. Thanks

I used to shoot a 243 in matches with Winchester brass. Bought some Lapua later. Now I shoot a 6.5x47, and when I can't find a piece of brass in a match, it irritates me tremendously. If I were you, I'd shoot Winchester if it's fireforming OK. Would you rather lose a piece of fireformed Lapua brass, or fireformed Winchester brass?

Good point. I'm wondering if I can get the same accuracy and low sd without having to do any more prep than fire forming.

Winchester’s quality control has gone to absolute shit. The old blue bag stuff was really good, but the red bag is junk. You’ll throw away 25% off the brass as being completely unusable because of folds in the shoulders.

If you want great brass for a good price look at Starline. It’s excellent brass and costs even less than Winchester I believe. I’ve ran a bunch of it, mostly 243. Lapua doesn’t get you anything over it.

    Thanks I'll look into it.
