Just got a nightforce scope and this is my first time working with a scope that has adj. turrets for windage and elevation so while playing around with it i was wondering about the windage turret and zeroing it. I noticed that i only have 8 mils of travel for left and but for the travel to the right i have over 20 mils. My question is that once i zero my rifle do i then remove the turret, reset the zero line but only push the turret before tightening it to the 1 or 2 or 3 line underneath the turret wherever it ended up during the zeroing process? i know that it sounds confusing let me know if you need clarification.

Re: windage for nightforce?

yep.....I sounded like a total asshole after reading what I posted....why not start out with the best? I'll take my own advice and open mouth..insert foot. DirtyD...drive on. CST..thank you for correcting my moronic post

Re: windage for nightforce?

It is normal to not have to more wind to one side. It is ideal to have as close to the center as possible.

To 0 the turret just loon up the turret to so it will not make any adjustment, rote it back to 0, tighten up the setscrews, and make note what line you wind / elevation 0 is at.

Re: windage for nightforce?

CSTactical thats what i was looking for, after playing around with it thats what i figured out. As for the zero stop that it fine it more a question about the windage, also i did do a search but i couldn't find anything windage for the scope. Why did i decide to go with this scope, because why buy something i'm going to outgrow, why not get good products and learn on them and grow into them

NF is a good scope but I wouldnt "start" with a NF. Learn how the scope works inside and out and then learn how to use this scope. Cant tell you how many people get hammered for asking dumb questions because they dont know how to use the gear they are buying. BUT ANYWAY...on to attempt to answer ur questions...

Entertain me...why not start with a NF? Why not learn on a scope that is reliable and does what it supposed to do? What's he going to do, drive it too fast and crash it?

DirtyD as far as zeroing goes: once you get the scope zeroed just loosen the set screw in the turret and rotate the turret without disturbing the scope settings to line up with zero on the knob and re tighten the set screw. You do not have to remove the turret to reset.

With having 8 mils windage adjustment one way and 20 mils the other it sounds like that there is some sort of alignment problem. It could be mounting screws holes in the top of the receiver are drilled at slight angle or maybe a problem with the base or rings. I don't think that it will give any problems though unless you have to use the extreme limits of the elevation travel.

I think I understood your question, maybe this will help.

Re: windage for nightforce?

Very good answer DirtyD. I was hoping you wouldnt be one of those clowns that just has it just to say they have it. You should do well with a mindset of wanting to learn and so on.....post up some pick of ur stick
