Is it safe, is it somewhat accurate, just looking for some cheap ammo to plink with till I get set up to reload the 6.5.

It's safe and somewhat accurate. Or at least the 120 gr. is somewhat accurate. What I have shot of it is awful dirty though. Plus it uses lage rifle primers where Lapua & hornady brass uses small rifle primers.

I didn't know that about the primers, I was planning on using the brass but that's out the window now, I want to keep everything the same. I found some Hornady 123 A Max for $20.99, I'll buy them.
When I start loading do I need to use small rifle or small rifle magnum?

The Grendel runs kind of hot and even though I never have had a problem with the 205M's, mine prefers Rem 7 1/2's and/or CCI 450's and they are tough. You really need to work up slowly as pressure comes on quick in my experience with this caliber.
My AA Overwatch likes 30.6 AA2520, Lapua, Rem 7 1/2, 123 Scenar's @ 2.270" or 29.5 XBR 8208, Lapua, Rem 7 1/2, 108 Scenar's @ 2.270". These are right at max for my rifle BTW, so work up! The respective SMK's can be used in a pinch, but my whore likes the expensive stuff better it seems!
Never used Hornady brass and don't need to.

Oh yeah, the Wolf stuff. I use their primers, but the 6.5 Grendel ammo I tried was a waste of barrel life. Others may have different experience with it though. Refer to my comment about my rifle and the expensive stuff. She ain't cheap, the Grendel.....

the 120 grain MPT wolf ammo work good. It's about as accurate as your run of the mil xm193 surplus ammo. Nothing spectacular, but it shoots decent groups. The Wolf SP 123 grain shoots much bigger groups than the MPT, but the brass is the same. The brass is a little softer than the Lapua and Hornady, but it reloads just fine. The larger primer isn't that big of a deal either. You won't get as many loads out of your Wolf as the others since the brass is softer. But, if you just want plinking ammo or a larger stockpile of SHTF ammo, then you really can't beat the wolf. It's half the price of the other stuff.

This ain't no budget caliber. If all you do is run Prvi Partizan ammo through a Grendel then you are missing the point. That barrel is a consumable just like those bullets and brass. Why waste any of it? Reload for it and use Lapua/AA brass (have not tried Hornady) and good bullets and you will not walk away from this caliber shakin your head. Refer to my earlier comment about it being a high priced whore

I understand what your saying, I just want to put some rounds down range, I spent so much money on the rifle and scope that I cant afford ammo

The more folks that try the Grendel, I believe, the more that this fine round will hang around and become more popular.

Well, normally I shoot 123 grain Lapua Scenars or 123 grain SMK in Lapua brass. When I want extreme accuracy at extended ranges, then I run Lapua or Hornady or Black Hills.
When I'm shooting steel at 100 yards or letting my friends plink with it on a windy overcast cold rainy day (which isn't unusual in WA state), then why would I waste quality ammo that is well over a buck a round. Wolf is more than capable at those ranges in those conditions.
If I'm laying in a hide shooting coyote at 600 yards, then I'm sure I'd go with better ammo (although I could probably get away with it with Wolf, I'd want a little better long range accuracy). Wolf ammo is good ammo and runs reliably and is plenty accurate if you are at the range and shooting at paper within 200 yards. If you can't shoot a decent group with Wolf at those ranges then more expensive ammo isn't going to do anything to help you.
Plus, as I shoot the Wolf ammo, I end up reloading the empty brass with either Lapua Scenars or SMK's so I really don't understand what you are getting all worked up about.
And in 1kz45's case, if he don't have the money for box after box of top dollar ammo, there is nothing wrong with tossing some wolf down range. At least he is getting out and shooting. Some people here can't afford to throw away money. Plus the Wolf is just fine to use for initial sight in's and barrel break in. Why waste the high dollar rounds if your not even sure you are on paper yet. The Grendel Wolf is nothing like the 5.56 wolf it's better ammo than that. It's loaded into brass cases instead of steal. Like I said, it's comparable to surplus XM193 5.56 Lake City ammo as far as accuracy goes.
