I have heard of several area ranchers that have swore up and down that they saw a wolf in the last few years. I guess this proves it. If that came across my place it would have been shot, shovel and shut up and the collar clipped to a semi. By the way Gillette is about 230 miles the way a crow flies from Yellowstone Park. Gillette is on the far right of the pic and Yellowstone is on the far left. Here is the story. Link

They've been here for years already. I have seen some weird stuff in my field the last few weeks though. I'll have to run it by you and see what you think...

Yeah and you have to love the way our game and fish always deny they are anywhere near here, and low and behold a collared one shows up for everyone to see. I think the game and fish are a bunch of crooked people in my books, lying about everything until they cannot lie about it anymore. They did the same thing for years in the bighorns until people started putting pictures of them up and they could deny in no more. And then our Federal government delisting them everywhere but Wyoming, come on. Sorry about my rant I am done now.

Yeah I think that the wolf population in Wyoming is ready for a little "management" at this point. They are spreading all over the place and way outside of Yellowstone Park and like LW says, they deny it publicly and pass off sightings as coyotes and such and telling you that you don't know what you saw or you are mistaken.

I guess I get fed enough bullshit from big brother and expect better from our state government agencies. I guess they just pile the shit on as well. The game and fish is funded mostly by license purchases, what will happen when everyone gets fed up and takes a year off from hunting, or just stops buying licenses. There goes the new trucks and houses they get to stay in. I just wish there was a little bit of honesty there. Oh well I figure the local ranchers will do what is right especially with young calves and lambs around.

There's more headed your way...

So I'm wonderin' if that black song dog woulda been chasin' speed goats... what then would have the wardens done????

Millions spent introducing the wolves..but not a penny spent on management or a plan thereof.

Re: Wolf Spotted within 20 miles of Gillette, WY

Actually the first story in the Gillette News Record wasn't very factual. The second story in the Billings Gazette was the corect one, released by U.S. Fish and wildlife coordinator Mike Jimenez. Wyoming Game and Fish had nothing to do with this sighting. I know numerous people in the county had claimed to see wolves before this, but as far as actual documentation, there had been none. No pictures, no tracks, no pictures of tracks. Nothing. Some of them could have been real, but no one knows. Now we have a confirmed sighting and data and this will go a long ways towards helping get these things delisted. The pictures and information went to Washington D.C. with Enzi's camp very soon after happening to help them with that battle.
