I hosted a three gun match recently and a friend of mine set up a challenging precision rifle side match. I used my Larue Stealth build to compete in the side match.
The course of fire had a par time of 5 minutes. You started with your handgun and shot 3 pistol targets with a variety of hard cover on them. You then retrieved your rifle and ran to your blind where you had to engage a rifle target at 25 yards, 50 yards, 75 yards, 100 yards (through a made up scope) and at 180 yards. The targets 10 ring was half an inch in diameter. I got perfect hits on all the pistol targets I got 10 ring hits on the 25, 50, 75 and 100 yard targets and a 8 ring hit at 180 yards. The 8 ring hit was my fault because I had my rifle zerod at 200 yards and did not know exactly where it would hit at 180 yards. I was off. I had the only semi auto in the small side match.
Here is the gun and the results.
Precision rifle
1. Scott C 68.5
2. Pat M 68
3. Cliff 67
4. Matt 61.5
5. Steve 60
6. Todd 47
I am trying to get three gun going in Alaska and so far my matches have been the best attended in the state. I had 27 in May and 26 at this last one on 9-11-10. By comparison other matches in Fairbanks and Kenai were around 10 to 15 shooters. I have been hosting these matches with a friend of mine for the last 3 years and they have gotten more popular every year. This year they got even better because I got sponsors for a prize table.
As for the main match I got 5th out of 26 people over all and 3rd in my Division.
