Woody's Designated Marksman Match Sponsored By DPMS October 25th Series Finale

Can't wait for Saturday! The last 2 matches were awesome. If ya'll haven't ever shot from strange positions, you will at this one.

If anyone needs some 223 Pmags or anything else off our site, let me know so I can bring them with me.

Note your team number.

Write down or memorize your team number.

It'll make life easier for you and the RO on each stage to find you on the scoring tablets. This will be our first match scored with PractiScore. This team number was also included in your initial registration confirmation email when you registered online.

Kind of in the same boat jut found out I am off work Saturday and can shoot this match. I have shot a couple at Woodys before but I am hardly an expert. If anyone is interested in a last minute entry if it is still possible please let me know.

Thanks

This may be too little too late, but I am looking for a teammate for this match. I am an accomplished NRA Highpower Shooter and have shot 3-gun matches in the past, but this would be my first match of this type.

It looks like a great weekend for a match and BBQ (it’s a go!!!!). Please ensure to arrive in plenty of time before your start to prepare and also ensure to go slow (5 MPH) once you turn on the gravel road so we ensure the neighbors do not complain. I recommend you bring plenty of water/snacks and sunscreen.

Look forward to seeing you at the farm!

Dave

The schedule is posted on the web site Match Info - Woody's Designated Marksman Match . Check in 30 to 45 minutes prior to your Tee time. I will be sending several other e-mails with updates this weekend.. The prize table is looking nice so I would suggest spending a few minutes reviewing the sponsors tab as well.

Every effort has been made to accommodate your requests for times/etc. during registration so hopefully it works well for everyone. At this point other than the remaining slots the schedule is locked in place. We have 8 afternoon slots on Saturday and will also run a squad format for 5 team slots @ 3:30 Friday afternoon. Several folks have asked and we will allow folks to shoot it again in those slots as long as it is with another partner (similar to what we allowed last Fall) i.e. Joe/Bob shoot and Joe shoots again with a new team of Joe/Chuck. I realize most of you did not need the example but trust it will say me a bunch of e-mails/calls. If you want one of those slots mentioned above just register and also ensure it will not conflict your Saturday time. I would not recommend anyone shooting after 10:45 Saturday not to go for one of the afternoon slots Saturday. As a note these last slots will not get the match T-shirts as they were ordered this Friday morning.

We will be using tablets to score the match which should make the final tally much quicker. The prize table should be between 6:30 pm and 7:30pm (best estimate) on Saturday. You must be present to draw from the table. 1st place will receive the 2 Lancer DMM rifles, 2nd/3rd place will go to the table next. The remaining prizes will be via raffle ticket everyone will be given that is in attendance during the prize table drawing.

Ranges will be between 25 yards and 600 yards so it is recommended you have your drop tables for those distances in 25 yds or 50 yds increments. After you register you should have plenty of time (as long as you arrive 30 to 45 minutes prior to your start time) to go into the large building where Woody will have the range layouts for you to review and make your stage target notes. These will be duplicates of the stage target layout/distance that will be at each stage. This is a key portion of your preparation time since teams are scheduled every 8 minutes to start on Stage 1. Ranges finders are 100% legal for all stages and as always the targets will have been ranged by match staff in advance and verified during stage set up.

A perfectly clean match is 30rds with most shooters using 50rds to 100rds to complete the course. The round count is driven by your shooting accuracy, technique and Team use of the time on the clock. Targets not neutralized are valued at 120 seconds penalty and non-threats hit at 60 seconds penalty added to team stage time.

Due to a large amount of requests from shooters we will be announcing/holding another individual precision “sniper” match on Saturday 7.20.13 with registration opening the week after the 6.22.13 match. A special thanks to allow of you that have supported this match and helped in supplying input to take it to the next level. I suspect it will evolve in a similar fashion as had the DMM.

Looking forward to seeing you all next weekend

Dave

So if some folks are shooting both days, which time counts for the course? Seems like you might have a little bit better score the second time around?

I was wondering the same thing. In the past events where they had a morning and afternoon match both times counted for the over all score. So if you shot a bad time in the morning and a better time in the afternoon with a different partner, you still placed with the best time. IMHO opinion that's not the best practice when running a match but I don't run it so I have no say. I love the Woody's event, it's one of my favorite but I definitely think there are a few areas that could be improved upon to even the playing field.

Looking forward to this weekend, weather is looking great!

I'll have to agree that only the first score should count and the second run can be for fun.

We are shooting the to now and I am responding via my phone but let me assure you Woody and I have any fairness issues covered. I am happy to explain further when u check in . No team is shooting twice. 1st to 3rd go to table 1st with remaining prizes trip with Raffle draw with only 1 trip per shooter

Hkps this helps clarify and calm jitters

Dave

Long day but the stages seemed to run well and it should be a great match tomorrow. Please remember to bring snacks/sunscreen and bug juice. No food wagon during the day but BBQ post the match and the prize table has shaped up well.

Just got back, damn what a long day, had lots of fun though. Hats off to Woody, Dave, the ROs and sponsers.

Lancer and Vortex had a great crew there. Those Lancer rifles were f-ing sweet!

Many thanks to the guys from Lancer for the 1st place rifles and the awesome side match, Scott and Tony from Vortex for all the optics on the table and letting BotBasher Jr shoot Tony's rifle after the match, Daniel Defense for the uppers, Thunder Beast, US Optics, War Sport, Barnes Precision, JP Enterprises, Wison Combat, Bang Steel, and Southwest Ammo for their prize table contributions!!

Props to the top three teams for shooting the match clean that was NOT and easy task!!

Also props to my partner Hunter for shooting a clean match again (Nov'12 & Jun'13) and carrying us to a top 15 finish!

Great match thanks to woody,Dave and the ro's. also a big thanks to the sponsors. Me and red ended up with a nice set of barnes uppers. I guess that's telling me its time to start playing a little 3 gun.

I just wanted to give a HUGE thank you to all the great folks that put the event on and an even BIGGER thanks to all those that have helped, taught, advised, encouraged, corrected and pushed me (in the best ways) into trying things I might not have otherwise!

You know, there are very few things that a father & son (in our situation in life) can do that cannot be one upped by the other kids, but I know that the smiles and memories that you all helped me give him yesterday and the great compliments you gave me about him will stick with us both for a long time!! I couldn't have been prouder of him!! I've mentioned it before, but this particular shooting community seems to follow a different drummer and I am glad that you do!

Now it's time to drop back.. regroup... and start planning for the next one so that we might be able to make all the efforts you put into us pay off a bit bigger! :) Although, truth be told... I accomplished exactly what I said I wanted to! Thanks to everyone that helped it happen! Steve, Tom and all the others... THANK YOU!

See you the next time!!

This was a very educational match for me and my teammate. We are both 3gunners that traveled a little bit out of our lane. We were able to shoot with several very good military guys and we were able to see where we were lacking. Thanks to all the sponsors and congrats to the winners. It was impressive watch them shoot.

Thanks again too Woody and Dave for putting on an extremely hard match that was still a blast to shoot. Thanks to all the sponsors who put up prizes on the table, that was a great bunch of gear! Double props to Lancer for the rifles on the table and the side stage they put up. Thanks too all my fellow RO's who helped run the match and keep everything flowing so well. And many many thanks to Woody's brother for the great BBQ dinner! Cant wait to get back in the spring and shoot with yall again.

The Horse has had a fine time! The match was great. It was fun, tough, and as always a learning experience. I shot the worst I have ever done in any match, therefore I will be better in July. The Colts were present and they continue to learn and get better, providing me with pride filled smiles and providing others with entertainment.

Thanks to the sponsors for amazing support! The prize table was amazing. Damon and Dave y'all did GOOD!

I saw a lot of great shooters and teams that worked really well together. I ran stage #1 and saw the epitome of "over come, adapt, and never quit" by John Lester. His partner's rifle had major problems right off the bat and instead of stopping he was calm and cool and said,"here get on my gun". His partner slash daughter transitioned to John's rifle and shot the stage very smoothly, then he got back on his rifle and finished the stage. Never quit, over come, adapt was what happened and it was slick!

For the folks going back across the water/down range you will be in my prayers.

Woo Hoo bring on the next one!

Thanks to Lancer, Scott at Vortex, JP Enterprise and everyone of the sponsors that were represented. Thanks to all the guys who put this thing on again, It keeps getting smoother. I would also like to thank my Partner, who never got a round through her rifle before it broke and had to be scuttled. She recovered by falling back on my rifle that she had never shot more than 1-2 times and ran it like a pro, thank goodness for backups or we would have been completely down. Had a Great time and it is always good to see old Friends!

Woody and I want to thanks the all the sponsors for their generous support for the prize table. The winners picked up the Lancer rifles today and to say the least they are pleased. As always without the RO's and support staff we could not have pulled the match off. I do want to add a special THANKS to Barry for all his efforts on the web site (Woody and I are high maint. low IT skill) and especially getting us on board to using the tablets for scoring!!!!! That easily saved 1.5 hrs of post time match for determining winners/rankings. It was also great to have the BBQ cooked up by Woody's brother!!!! As always the shooters make the hard work of the match well worth every minute or prep./running the match.

I think it's about time I drag my ass and the 260 up there and see what all the fuss is about. Heck, I might even be able to sucker somebody into teaming up with me for the fall match while I'm there. I don't have a partner to shoot the team matches with and work got in the way of your last individual match, so I'm going to do my damnedest to make this one.

Absolutely come on up it is a good bunch of folks and Woody and I try to raise the bar every match

If you are the gentleman with the 13 year old son who shot a couple teams ahead of us- great job! I enjoyed just watching him shoot.
Thank you VERY MUCH! He was having so much fun that by about Stage 3 I gave up on my troubled scope and just let him shoot the round as best he could loading 3 rounds at a time. It was a huge learning experience for us both... He was used to hearing targets splash and it was a little tough for him to see the targets splash but not swing, but I'm making plans to assure that it will never happen again though!!

We're hoping to have it all sorted out by Nov when we'll be a lot more prepared and should be able to make a better showing of it!

Thanks again for the kind words.. he beams ear to ear when he sees others notice his efforts! Dad doesn't like it in the slightest either!

Cheers
