I'm in the St. Louis area and we have been sent home to work at home (great tech makes that possible) but we are here for at least THIRTY DAYS by order of our government. My wife is also here and working from home teaching "online" for her school kids who are in the same boat.

I work for a medical packaging manufacturing company....I make the machines that package, sort, handle, and other things, the medical equipment the major medical companies use. Out office folks are all working from home. All of us poor technicians are still working 50 hours a week at the shop. We still have dead lines to meet, and customer contracts.

Our off site work has slowed down quite a bit due to airline restrictions.


I do know a few of the companies making test units for this virus are using machines I built. I know one company was setting up machines to manufacture tests that will show results in a few days, rather than weeks. And that was two or more months ago.

My wife is also a teacher for young children, but no online class for them as they are to young. So they have been doing all their yearly certificates and things. But luckily she is able to do much from home so our two kids have someone watching them.

For now, having a real job lol, still keeping the facility and plant operations running to keep putting equipment out. All non essentials sent home to work to reduce risks.

Glad me and the team have a place to go every day. We dont have face to face meetings right now, and no vendors allowed in person. I hope everyone stays healthy.

I look after a 50,000 sq ft manufacturing facility, we only have 8 staff total and no public contact except for the coffee van that so far has managed to make it every day. We intend to keep operating but I am waiting to find out if my shoulder re construction scheduled for next week is still going ahead...

I'm in the food service industry. I am based from home, but spend most days traveling to one of our five facilities.

Tomorrow morning, I am headed to PA as there is a new maintenance supervisor starting and part of my job involves training.

Learned last Thursday the governor of PA has shut down all non-life sustaining businesses, which includes hotels so we may not have a place to stay. Still waiting on if I'm going or not.

I will admit that flying during this nonsense has been pretty damn nice. Last Monday, I flew from MSP to PHL and there were eleven people on a CRJ900. This plane is capable of 75+ people.

On Friday, I flew home. There nine people on that same plane.

Almost everyone at work has been sent home to work remotely. I have no internet access at home or I would be among them. No problem with social distancing as the place is a ghost town. There are too many alphabet soup agencies that are also tenants for the building to shut down completely.

Indeed. My gun club has shut down all the various groups, competitions and groups regularly scheduled to use the facility. Range Officers are required to stay back at least six feet from anyone.

Being a Project Superintendent for a commercial project I have been just getting started, I have about 25 guys onsite, they are all required to fill out a form every morning answering questions about if they feel sick, have been around sick people, or have been on vacation.Any vacation means a one week quarantine. Yes to any questions and they leave the jobsite, of course I would have to go to as NOW I have been in contact with a sick person, good grief Charlie Brown.

I spent Friday all alone in my school building. Only our food service staff was required to work. We are still delivering food to our students, but that’s it. Interesting times to be an educator. I have a bunch of seniors that are freaking out about being able to graduate. I won’t go into the politics of why we can’t give them work for the time being, but it’s frustrating for all.

Im home from work because of an injury and this is killing me to stay home. Had 2 full thickness tears in my rotator cuff, again. This is my 6th surgery on the same shoulder after the initial injury of falling through a roof at a fire. I am a Firefighter for the last 24+years and a paramedic since before that. My guys are being exposed and even getting sick, sent home to quarantine for 15days before being allowed to work again. Currently we have 70 or so guys out on quarantine, and more out because job related injures. This means the guys that are able to work are stringing 240hr shifts. I want to be there to make sure guys under my command stay safe, but this fucking injury is keeping me from being able to.
Omg top of all of that my National FEMA Rescue team is up for 1st out this month and I can't even go if we were called. I have been deployed to Harvey, Irma, Dorian, the Camp Fire and many others, and I want to be there for the guys if called up.

Im not being a bitch, or at least I don't think I am, just hard to hit the hard reset yet again because of another surgery. I am very honored to do what I get to do and get to work with some incredibly talented and dedicated people. Sorry for complaining, and thank you for listening (reading)....just tied of 4 walls and ice machines.

For what it’s worth, I have been in telecom and CCTV sales for 22 years. If anyone is trying to figure out the logistics of getting themselves and their colleagues set up to work remotely, let me know. THIS IS NOT ABOUT ME TRYING TO SELL SOMETHING. Now is not the time to have to reinvent the wheel yourself. If I can help make this ordeal easier on someone, I’m happy to advise.

I work from 60%-75% of the time. Have been doing so for 3 years now. Only difference is I now have 3 kids also home and my wife.

If anyone has any idea why we can't get my wife's Chrome Book connected to our home WiFi, let me know. We have scads of devices connecting with no issues. She is a teacher and brought it home so she use it for online learning with the kids, but have have been unable to get it to connect, in fact, she brought another one home and no dice with it.

I'm an LEO for my "real job" (as if my wife), so my work hasn't changed. I also own a retail firearms store. Biz is great. Mainly because my prices are the exact same as what they were 5 weeks ago. My only bitch is, a few of my distributors are out of stock on several items and shipping has been delayed.

Personal life: Went to shoot a local PRS match Saturday. A few less competitors at this range, compared to previous matches. We had smaller squads and shotgun started every other stage, to maintain 'social distancing." Sunday went with my wife to the range to verify data on a new barrel for her rifle. It was just her and I for about 2 hours. Even then, only 1 other kid showed up to sight in his AR.

I'm not a 'crowd' type person. So, to be honest, I'm enjoying not having a million idiots out and about.

Edit: My youngest son is an LEO, as well. His wife is a stay at home mama. Oldest son works for NS RR and his wife loan officer at a bank. So, really no change in my families life.

I'm with Nik... WFH/remotely often with my technical sales job. Haven't been able to travel to customer for a few weeks, and looks like that's going to continue for a while.

Wife is WFH too (when she doesn't have to go in to the Hospital she works at). Dogs are loving it... but she stole my office, so I'm down at the kitchen table... not sure how TF that happened, she just chit chat's half the time anyway. Really considering driving down to our place in FL to "social distance" ourselves there (maybe alone if the wife gets called in to work). At least the weather there is warm and I can get out on the kayak and fish (private dock). WNY is cold, wet, and shitty.

I've had the option to telework since last Monday, just declined that option until we were forced to telework as of yesterday evening so here I am. There have been talks of Minnesota joining the Stay in Place Order states soon anyway. I have plenty to do here, but we have a contract up for bid and now I am prohibited from meeting with the contractors in person for a site visit which is a huge pain in the ass and will likely cause me more work down the road ensuring things are done correctly. I did pick up some beer on the way home today though, so there's that. Otherwise I enjoy being home with the two dogs and avoiding the 1.5 hours of driving every day.

Anti-freeze... got it! Good tip. Just don't use the 50/50 pre-mix stuff... needs to be at least 60% alcohol to kill the virus.
