Holy shit, that looks awesome. I loved the book, though this looks like a fairly loose interpretation of those vignettes. Were those zombies making a huge zombie pyramid in the last scene of the trailer? Tell me that was really happening...

Well....that throws the book in the toilet like with everything hollywood does

Apples and oranges. The book is a fantastic framework for telling a number of exciting stories via the media of film. If anything, a decent adaptation will often motivate people to read the book too.

Looks better than i ever thought it was. I'm impressed. Video games are also being made around the same premise Day Z and War Z both Survival MMOs.

I can understand that...but call it something else and don't infer it has anything to do with the book. If I remember correctly the zombies weren't fast movers in the book....looks like they are on a combination of meth/crack/etc the way they are moving in this movie.

Actually, Pitt and Jolie are supporters of the 2nd amendment, much to the chagrin of his fellow hollywood-types. So I give him a pass on using them to make his living.

I'll see this, but I don't think it'll be an full portrayal of the book.

From what I've seen, he says he's pro-2nd but his choice for prez says otherwise.

Generally, these types don't care about 2nd amendment stuff. They figure they will always have enough money to circumvent the rules to meet their needs. They just don't want the average person having the same rights that they would enjoy.

I suspect it wouldn't be too hard for Brad Pitt to start a movie prop company and have all the full-auto toys he wants even in California.

I think slow ones might have a harder time taking over lol.

The only acceptable adaptation of this was 28 Days Later. This inhuman CGI crap is so lame, I wouldn't see this movie on that point alone... this is was utterly ruined I AM LEGEND imo

At least in 28 days they still moved at human speeds, these WWZ zombies look like they have super-human speeds. I personally didn't mind the zombies in I Am Legend so much as the way Will Smith didn't respond to the smart zombie that ultimately lead to his death. I think investigating a moved mannequin would have warranted a lot more caution, if not avoiding that area all together...

    Re: World War Z

Thanks for posting this dogtown. Looks damn good! They were probably tired of the same ol, same ol, slow moving zombie, already done type stuff. Its nice to see new life in an old story.

    Re: World War Z

Personally, I think a "Band of Brothers" style mini-series would have been a better way to do something like this. The book is a series of vignettes that each could be their own 1-hour part. But that is a very difficult thing to pull off and very risky financially. Yes, money is a key factor here as Hollywood as become extremely risk averse as big blockbuster films have evolved into $200+ million gambles.

    Re: World War Z

I have listened to the book 4 times now, and watching the trailer just pissed me off. I don't know how I would have made the movie, but it looked like Battle for LA with zombies. If I remember hearing correctly, Max Brooks mentioned that they completely left him out of development.

I know I'm probably one of the last people here to see it, but I finally watched it today. As others have already stated, it's not the same story as the book at all, even so I quite enjoyed it.

There were a few things that annoyed me about the plot in the film though. A C-130 takes off from a carrier off the East coast of the US and flies to South Korea? Then gets partially refuelled before flying to Israel? The wall scene in Israel was a bit OTT too, even if they could climb like that, why didn't the patrolling helicopters do anything about it till it was too late?

My main problem with them making this as World War Z though, is that it means there is no chance of a movie that actually follows the book's storyline coming any time within the next decade or so.
