Would it be feasible to perm attach a suppressor on an AR15

If one wanted to bring a 10.5 barrel out to 16", would it be practical to pin/weld a suppressor on?

I was thinking of doing this with a TurboK. Could it be cleaned from the bore?

I know a gunsmith in PA who put a tube a half inch shorter than his suppressor on the barrel so he had a 16" barrel and tube combination and 16.5" with his suppressor mounted. I don't recall what suppressor it was but it had a hexagonal front that a combination wrench fit to tighten it.

No more than you would expect. Suppressor can't be easily removed if you want to sell the gun...basically it's an integrally suppressed firearm.

It will depend on the caliber and type of bullets. If it's 5.56 then you don't need to do anything. If it's .30 cal you might want to clean the can once every year or two as preventative maintenance.

If it's something else caliber wise then it will just depends what that something else is.

How have I never thought of this? Wouldn't get hot either, or not nearly as hot at least.

5.56 cans are just about the only ones that do not need cleaning. They have high pressures and shoot jacketed bullets. Realistically with a 5.56 you will never need to clean the can. Not saying you can't but you won't need to.

Something bigger/slower/less pressure though and you will get lots of carbon build up. Even if you did want to clean a pinned suppressor it's no factor.

I had planned on doing this with the stainless steel TBAC they made for a short time. I could just send them the barrel and can assembly to clean. I still want to do it.

Once you start putting suppressors on AR’s you quickly realize you should have went with something else or you want to build a different upper.

Perm attached cans would not be a good option IMO

I value what hearing I have left is one reason I want a suprressor. I accidently forgot to pull my earpro down once while shooting a 10.5 and now have tinnitus in my right ear plus hearing loss.

Those pistols are cool looking and handy but are prohibitively loud without hearing protection, which make them a poor choice for self defense home/truck gun.

He's saying just pay the extra $200 for the form 1 / SBR stamp for your carbine instead of welding your can to the barrel.

Something I wouldnt do either, mostly for the reasons he stated.

Yes I fully SUPPORT suppressing any AR you want. I have several BUT I wouldn’t want to perm attach my cans to them.

AR’s with a cam get stupid hot just after one mag and then you’re walking around with an object hanging off your gun that looks like a lava rock lol. When you you get complacent and let your rifle hang with a can in it you will be reminded with a nice burn in your jeans and on your legs.

With rifle cans once you get one it’s nice to be able to move it around to other options. For instance I have an Omega that gets swapped to a .223 AI, a 11.5 AR, a 11 Bren 2, a 6GT,

Wouldn't do it to all of them; but some of them.......absolutely.

Mine in particular, can remove the distal end cap, and pull the stack from the front.

This then cools down, mixes with the other products of combustion, namely CO2 and NO2 to make an acidic compound. As you can guess this causes corrosion inside the can and the end of the bore.

I see diligant, post range session cleanings in it's future, unlike my AK, which never gets cleaned.

Mine will have a cover on it.

This will be my serious go-to AR and there won't be any changing, swapping parts once it's set up.

So I'm pretty sure they do. It's sold as an "integral" upper, with a 10.5" and a standard Turbo.

I had to grind off the bayo lug, and custom make my "timing shim" to get things perfect. The can I used is 1.5" ID, and had a large blast chamber, so I volume loss was not too concerning. It also has a 17-4 diffusion wall as the first baffle, so reflexing the muzzle deeper was also of little concern.
