As the title suggests, I'm building a large frame AR in .243. Not my first AR build, not my first experience with .243, but I know almost nothing about combining the two. Looking for as precise of a rig as I can without spending thousands, and I want to keep the weight to a minimum. Barrels and bolts are my biggest unknown, does anyone have any recommendations? Is it necessary/better to go with a barrel/ bolt combo? Do upper-to-lower receiver tolerances matter? Going to budget about $1500 to the build not including optics, and getting as many used or 2nd hand parts as possible, is this a reasonable budget? What about gas system considerations?
My ideal setup would be lightweight enough to hunt with, and able to compete in a gas gun PRS style series. Would like to shoot Berger 105s, but I'm not sure if OAL is too long for magazines. Any help from people who have built ARs in .243 would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Also my first post ever, so if I am breaking any rules, please let me know! I tried to search for a similar thread to this one and I was unable to find one, if there is one already please link it and I will delete! Thanks again
