Wow do I love my new Chargemaster

Been reloading by throwing a charge into a digital scale and trickling up. It takes me about 90 minutes to load 70 rounds with this method. Decided to order a chargemaster and see if it could speed things up. Holy cow! Now I get my 70 rounds done in less than 30 minutes. I seat the primer and seat the bullet while the chargemaster is whirring away. I never thought of reloading as fun, but I'm sure smiling now.

I did compare the chargemaster to my ultra-accurate Acculab scale. The Acculab is definitely more precise with the Chargemaster at +-.1 grains. But I'll gladly give up that precision to save 1hour in my life one or more times per week.

My Gen 1 Prometheus is almost as fast as the Chargemaster and just as accurite as the Aculab, now I want a Gen 2 which is twice as fast as the CM with repeatable accuracy the Aculab can only dream of

Im tempted, believe me, to go the chargemaster path... certainly is a cool toy.

I might eventually get one to load roads im not overly anal about, but for everything else the ol balance beam meets the needs.

just got into reloading and the chargemaster was my first add-on purchase. With my hectic schedule the speed / accuracy made the process enjoyable not just a task to save money. now I just have to amortize $300.00 more into the reloading payoff and see how many rounds till i break even.

Have they fixed the issues in the new chargemaster?

I know there were folks complaining about the speed on the old model and had to re-program them to get them to run quick enough to not have to wait on the charge.

+1 on the chargemaster. I would hate to be without mine after having one now for a couple of years.

Must admit didn't know there were any issues with the old one? Have read up on re-programming but mine runs plenty fast enough and is done by the time I've seated the bullet.

I have been looking at getting one after I upgrade to a power trimmer.

I would definitely make work ups easier.

The chargemasters come preset like that to throw different types of powders accurately with as few overthrows as possible. When dispensing stick type powders I reprogrammed mine to change the transition points to throw faster. However, ball powder and flake powder are different animals and will not always meter the best when thrown at stick speed. Plus, it only takes about 45 seconds to reprogram.

I bought my chargemaster at Natches Shooting supply last year. They have sales quite often and with the discount, its usually $50 or so less than anywhere else. Right now as a matter of fact on sale from $388.00 to $279.00. Go to the website the chargemaster is on the first page in a small box as an on sale item.

I have to work fast with the priming and seating tasks to keep up with the Chargemaster. Just set it to auto-dispense mode and it goes so fast I can barely keep up. This is with H4350 powder and all the settings on default. 70 rounds in less than 30 minutes: priming, dispensing, and seating.....that is fast.

It's accurate to +- .1 grain....plenty good enough for shooting out to 600 yards. Many good 1K shooters use it for that too.

I use stick almost exclusively right now (Varget, RE15 and RE17)

got mine and love it, i use some very expensive($2000+) scales for certain rounds very often, for practical shooting in my 308 bolt gun, the charge master is great

last time i did some load work, i got about a 30ft spread with the chargmaster, with the high end scale the spread is usally around 20 or so but a flyer is never out of the realm of possibility

to me the trade off is worth it

Chargemaster sounds pretty good. I currently have a Hornady multistep lock-N-load, but the powder charger is not accurate enough for me, so I use a trickler as well, which is fairly time consuming.

What are the comparable products to RCBS chargemaster, and why did you choose or think this one is better?

Hornady has a simular product if you want to compare. I bought my chargemaster before the Hornady came out but either one is going to do a good job for you im sure. If costs are the same, flip a coin, you will be happy with either.

I have Chargemasters for 3 years. I reprogrammed mine and it works like a dream. Besides all the benefits of the Chargemaster. RCBS has great customer service with this product. I had a keypad go out after 2 years. Shipped it back. They sent me a brand new one a week later. Product and service is great.
