I have been fumbling around trying to make my factory Remington .308 in a TAC-21 Chassis shoot with some satisfaction but not enough. I spoke with Scott McRee and ordered one of his Remage kits in .308, 1:10, with a 22in Pac-Nor barrel and threaded muzzle. It was on my porch in 2 days. Instead of tearing down my Remington I ordered a new stainless Remington short action and used it for the build. I put it together Wednesday and tried some 168, 175, and 185 loads I had on the bench with good results, most around an inch some smaller for a total of twenty-four rounds. Still shooting better than my SPS. The 168s were the tightest with the last group of the day right at ½ inch. Mind you Im maybe a little above an average shooter. Today I made some more 168s using my favorite load of 43.5 of Varget and about shot number 28 everything changed! As you can see from the picture the gun started shooting! I shoot with a Specwar 7.62 suppressor and there were no cold bore shots the groups were shot just as they are about ten minutes apart. Now I see how he can make his 1/2 MOA guarantee, I just need to work on the vertical stringing part.
Thank you, Scott!
