Wow...thoughts on this?

So if someone plots to steal your firearms and LE finds out about it, they’ll kick your door in in the middle of the night and confiscate your firearms? Effectively saving the criminal the trouble. Seems legit.

And let me guess...if I put a round in the first guys chest that comes through the door I get charged with killing a cop? Even though I was abruptly awaken from my sleep by an intruder and I was not guilty of any illegal activity.

That is fucking ludicrous...

Lawyer up, sue the shit out of them, and try to get as much media coverage as possible. The more the public, especially the denizens of Twitter, Facebook etc... knows about this, shares and reblog, the better. The last thing that the lying sonsofbitches in power want is public attention.

Commies gonna commie . This takes this commie horseshit to a whole new level .
Next you qill be guilty by association . And wouldn't be the first time in the US . See RICO statute . If you were Italian and say the local produce supplier is Mob . Say your a small market owner and purchase crom local supplier . Say local supplier who is Mob gets pinched , well youre fucked if the DA says so cause A the more people he arrests the better he looks and B they can .
Train . Buy more ammo . Stash some food . It aint gettin better .

Well, and my concern is it doesn’t even have to be family to pull this off. What about a neighbor that knows you have guns and calls the cops and makes up some BS story because he doesn’t like the fact you have guns? One could easily say that they plan on doing X on social media and has access to someone’s guns and voila next thing you know you are getting a visit from the police and temp confiscation. Notice the article just said he had access to them, it didn’t mention he had the combo to the safe. Big difference. What exactly is access?

This along with closing down ranges is going to be the next strategy in the playbook. Couple that with blocking access to gun dealers, etc. to process payments of even offer loans to potential buyers to purchase products and we have a real violation of our rights. This is a serious attack that I feel is being swept under the rug. I think all of these institutions joining in on these attacks should be held liable. I mean if a cake baker can have his life put in ruins for refusing to serve some gay people then imo these people should have the same response taken against them. How can you protect one and not another group?

Watershed moment in the testing grounds for confiscation.
They/Them are watching these situations carefully to see what the reaction is.
"Someone planned to steal them", this will be used again.
Joe Q Citizen has due process removed because shitbag kids make threats.

R

They are trying to cross the Old North Bridge now. If they are not stopped right the fuck NOW, sued, exposed and discouraged, they are gonna keep marching on and it will be much, MUCH harder to stop them as time goes on.

The police coast to coast unanimously support red flag laws, you'd think some would have the balls to stand and put a stop to this but the "good" ones either don't exist, have the balls to stand up and gather support against this within their department or are ok having innocent blood on their hands.

Best to sue the city, the department and even each individual officer involved if possible. Find the most immoral lawyer that will take the case and get as much money and exposure out of every person involved as can be had.

I don't want to bash LEO but its getting to the point that these incidents happen more often that not and giving LEO support is only becoming counter productive. If they won't stand for the law abiding, why should the law abiding stand for them?

They are only stomping on about 3 of the amendments with this bullshit. Not that I have much faith in the courts, but these red flag laws need to be pushed up the ladder to scotus immediately.

As far as supporting police, I definitely do, but not without question. My dad is a cop and so was my grandfather, but I would call the old man out if he was in on some shit like this.
Realistically, the cops that knocked on the door probably only knew part of the story, but someone in the department knew the scoop.

As of today, police have no plans to prosecute the firearm owner. They confiscated the guns of a law-abiding citizen because someone else planned to use them to commit a crime. Worse still, the suspects planned to steal the guns belonging to this citizen.

Well, no shit. The firearm owner didn’t do anything. What the hell would they prosecute him on?
Between this and the idiotic Red Flag it’s going to be all bad real soon.
Most here know what will happen when someone caps one of these cops on an illegal search. It may be a simple reaction to an “illegal entry” at 3 in the morning, like that poor bastard that got killed by cops in, I think it was Maryland on a Red Flag. I can see the headlines now and boys, they won’t favor us.

Nope! This may be what causes the spark that @ArmyJerry speaks of all the time.

I’m pretty sure that’s just a generic pic as the article said the confiscation was carried out in the middle of the night.

Even more odd. Seems almost like they just want to go around killing people. I mean I don’t know about you guys but most people I know who have people busting in doors and glass in the middle of the night at their house are going to straight up be shooting these people as they will he startled and have no idea what is going on. And of course there will be return fire by like 10-20 officers who will most likely be outgunning the homeowner. Why can’t it wait until morning? Or they give some kind of warning, even over a loudspeaker or something. There has been way too many of these swatting accidental killings by cops to make this red flag scenario sit any better. If I was homie, I’d be suing the city, the state, each cop and so on.

Agreed, I'm sitting here in my living room right now and if someone kicks my front door in, the show is fucking on. It's like they do everything they can to ensure total confusion. That's the worst possible tactic for coming in on someone in this scenario. Theres a million ways to let the homeowner know what the hell is going on other than just busting in screaming with guns drawn.

Who in the fuck wouldnt react to that?

How about these dipshits do their fucking jobs and actually investigate the claims?

On phone with person making claim:

Was there an actual threat?
Did you make it or start the argument?
Did you see the gun or know if said person has a gun?
Can you identify or describe the said item without seeing what it is?
Any witnesses to back up your story?
You know making a false police report is against the law right?

Talking professionally with the accused:

Past problems between said individuals or others in the neighborhood?
Did you make and threats or start the argument?
What was actually said?
Any witnesses to back up your story?

How about the LEO question the person without mentioning firearms at the onset and ask what is going on, similar to a neighborly dispute. Don't need a warrant or swat team to do all that. If/when nothing is found in probably 99.99% of these calls the person making the claim should be charged with a false report not immunity.

All these laws amount to are "gulag your neighbor" and at worst it's the non gaming version of swatting.

It just goes to show what the true agenda really is.
Strip people's rights away and if you get lucky murder them at the same time.
Also have fun playing storm trooper and terrorizing citizens when the police KNOW they are not actually a danger.

If the police were actually not a bunch of rampaging thugs and stormtrooper wannabes they should have:

A. Arrested those juveniles planning on doing the crime and kept them in jail without bond till trial.
B. Visited the law abiding home owner at a normally reasonable hour in calm respectful polite manner and informed them of the situation and asked them to please make sure all their guns were locked up in safes and the combinations were changed right away.
C. Offered to provide them with free safes & locksmith help changing the combinations if needed.

Simple... Constitutional.... Way more effective...

But of course they won't do that.

This is exactly why many of us KNOW that when the orders come down, the idea that the police / law enforcement / military won't obey unconstitutional orders is a dangerous and stupid myth. Just look at this... not a single storm trooper "hero cop" thought to say WTF how about we actually don't be a bunch of Jack Booted Thugs.

Also as always the police are so fixated on stealing guns thinking that somehow makes them safe.... they best hope they never find out what happens to them & their family when some seriously aggrieved citizen decides to return the favour and visit their house in the middle of the night with a couple 1/3rd full cans of gasoline, some rags, a couple wicks and a lighter.....

Also just as a note based on experience... Keep some of your guns hidden in unlikely places... unless it's a full on strip to the bones job, the police will pretty much case the place and grab anything they can easily see and probably strip your safes etc. (Then don't expect they will be of any help getting them back, expect that they will want to find any excuse or hope you "forget" a property hearing date so they get to keep them, even with your lawyers help, it may still be a year or so to get them back).

So, @sirhrmechanic , why am I not surprised? I sure hope no goobers decide to plot against you.
First I heard of it... but pretty appalling. The whole red flag law in VT was passed based on a false pretense...

DIsgusting. The commies up here are feeling their oats for sure.

One party rule is demonstrably dangerous.

Cheers, Sirhr

Just as some background... not on this, but on how VT got Bloomberg'd this year...

Coincidentally, just as a gun bill was coming up in the legislature and onto the Governor's desk, a kid was arrested for plotting a terrible school shooting. Apparently, had written out his 'plans' in a diary. Including his 'plans' to get guns. He never did any of it. But got arrested and the 'report' made our governor so skeered and upset that he signed the gun bill, which was BS and which he had promised NEVER to do.

The very day he signed it... within hours, the VT Supreme Court exonerated the kid and said that his 'fantasies' were protected and that he had taken no concrete steps to follow through on any of it. You can't arrest or imprison someone for 'impure thoughts.'

So the entire LEGAL gun-owning population of the safest state in the nation got Bloomberg fantasy laws passed by a Progressive legislature run by a Bloomberg-funded NPR employee... (not making this up). And the kid who so terrified our spineless governor... walked within hours of the bill being passed.

Of course, noone would report any of the background on the kid... his family... how it all came about. Just some dossier showed up on the governors desk that... made him all wobbly and scared.

The Communists are working it every hour of every day...

I still don't have background on the above incident. I'll ask around.

^^^ Basically, it did happen as reported. Middlebury is one of the most leftist towns in VT...

I would love to see some significant lawsuits over this, but guessing noone will step forward pro-bono. And the guy who lost his guns is probably 'old time' Vermont and not able to afford to take a case to SCOTUS. Or sue the town/state, etc. over Civil Rights Violations.

Precedent is set. Guess its time for a bad boating accident.

Cheers,

Sirhr

Do y'all have any VT pro 2A orgs? Local groups do more at our state level than the NRA ever will.
