Not looking for anything fancy
As long as it functions and is in good condition I’m interested. Starting a you g boy on one and I want him to have one to call his. Don’t need all the bells and whistles. Just a standard rifle in either 5.56 or 300 blk out. Would also consider pistols.
Thanks
Pat

A good place to look.

FWIW, there’s a pretty good run on ARs right now driving a lot of prices up but you can still build one pretty reasonably. Might look at letting him pick out a bunch of parts and really make it his.

I have tried.
Parts are pretty scarce. Plus jacked way up like you said.
I have several parts for one so that’s what I plan to do when I find him one to start on. If he likes the one I find then I get to keep my parts.. if not, I’ll take what he pulls off.

More than likely if you drive a couple hours out of the big cities and to some of them more rural / conservative areas, you'll find reasonably priced ARs in stock at the local gun stores.

There is some stock around here in the big cites if you know where to look, but out in the rural parts of Texas there is still pretty good supplies.

If you want to make the drive up to Mid Tn (Cookeville) I got a bit obsessed on builds and have a few more than I need at the moment.

5.56, 300BLK, .308... etc. PM me if interested. I’ve got a few I could let go from $550-up!

!!!!! JUST NO !!!!!

What I would suggest is you send some pictures back and forth and agree on what you wish to sell and the price and then the buyer sends you the money and you ship to their FFL and they go pick it up at their local FFL and do all the standard paperwork.

Something you might want to consider on ammo, is while I'm in no way saying don't stockpile as much as you can.

IF things are hard to get, think good and hard about exactly how much ammunition you might reasonably expend in a realistic defending yourself timeframe and how much you need to ensure your weapon is working well & you are comfortable using it and have all your dope.

Then go get the good stuff that most folks don't rush to stack up on and you can probably find enough to cover your actual need, then later if the prices go down, stockpile like you should have done before.

Things are not that hard to get, you just aren't looking in the right places. You can easily order a 14.5" or 16" BCM complete upper direct from BCM shipped to your door this week for normal price. You can then grab a BCM stripped lower, again for regular price $199 from g and r, get a larue trigger, and the rest of the lower parts easily and have a rock solid AR15 setup for ~1500 and between ar15.com and tacswap.com there is about 100 eotechs available for normal prices.

199 for a stripped lower? That is crazy.

I have found a few and bought them in the $600 range. Wouldn’t mind buying a couple more In this range.
I have enough Ammo. I’ll leave it at that... may have enough ars too but don’t want to have to question it. Lol.

$550 is fair at the current market. I can't stand to see folks trying to just plain rob people. I know the market is crazy right now but when a cheap $375 rifle is now selling for $750 to $800, I hope they choke on them. I guess if things go the wrong way then $750 to $800 will be the new fair price.

If things really go the wrong way in the elections, and the demonrats come out of the gate with Beto leading the charge to do as they promised, don't be surprised if rack grade ARs start fetching $2k almost overnight.
