WTF...crazy talk in Oregon

Re: WTF...crazy talk in Oregon

I'm sure I'll catch a lot of heat for this comment but this isn't about patriotism, it's about following the rules. If they make an exception for one, they have to make an exception for anything and everything people want to hang outside which creates an eyesore.

Re: WTF...crazy talk in Oregon

The state of Arizona has recently created a law that makes it unlawful to prevent anyone from flying Old Glory. This also includes flying the Gadsen flag specifically as well. Any HOA, apartment complex, etc., WILL get their pee-pee slapped if they try their slippery-slope reasoning with it.

I know Oregon is not Arizona but he may want to try to enact some legislation, lest he be made an example of...the hard way. Hopefully, enough people will be angered by this article, enough to give him some support and possibly get the ball rolling.

Bull-fucking-shit. Still America, for the time being. Allowing an American flag while banning everything else shouldn't be an issue in the least for prIvate property owners or government housing. It's a very easy conversation, actually. "If he can hang an American flag, why can't I hang my mexican flag!??!"..... "Cause this ain't Mexico". Done.

Re: WTF...crazy talk in Oregon

Killshot - Like I said, I understand the rules, and having been under the rule of an HOA previously, I know they are picky. But, I'm sure they can make an exception, at least for 24 hours or for some amount of predetermined time. After that, you are subject to fines or whatever. This is Verterans day, and he is a Veteran. I would say it would be okay for this man to hand whatever he wanted to outside of his residence.

Re: WTF...crazy talk in Oregon

Says he's in an apartment complex and hanging the flag "outside the community room near the main entrance". He's not hanging the flag on his balcony or up a flag pole. He's apparently hanging it on a wall that he doesn't own or control. I don't see the problem.

If someone was telling him he couldn't hang a flag on his property I'd see the argument.

section 8 housing complex (aka the projects) and the complex even put up a flag pole with the stars and strips to appease him. He simply feels that the pole and flag they bought are not of sufficient quality. Why are we even discussing this?

Interesting.

Re: WTF...crazy talk in Oregon

My dad lives in a senior citizen community and it has a HOA. There was a gentleman who worked for some division of the government and he bought a house there, when he retired, just before my dads house was built. He flys a very, very, large American flag on a 50 or so foot pole in his front lawn. When he first put it up the HOA had him to take it down and fine him as well as try to force him to sell his new house as others may take offense to the flag. He took the HOA to court and won. It took over a year but he won. He flies the flag nearly every day and I think it's great.
