Has anyone seen this video or heard about any of this stuff they are talking about? They are just bashing Marcus Luttrell for a bunch of stuff. Why do all navy seals just talk down on everything other seals have done? I've read the book and I know he's a congressman and that's all I really know about him. Seems like a great American doing a million better things for the country than 99 percent of everyone else. Do these guys in the video have a right talking shit on Luttrell?

I did not watch your video so not sure what is in it but have followed this story and others. Basically Lutrell was told by the navy to go along with this fake story and they wrote a book without his knowledge. Then showed up with the book and said, "here is your book and now you are a recruiter". They literally made up the story and told him to run with it. He told this story on a podcast so it's in his own words. Also, unless something changed recently he's not in congress but his brother is. But yes, the lone survivor story is fake and he admitted it. With Lutrell, I give him credit for confessing. You could tell he was not happy living the lie.

On a bigger scale, many of these high speed warriors have been lying about their service to gain fame. There is a growing group of veterans that are tired of these guys' scams so it's being exposed. If this upsets you then don't look into the real story behind Chris Kyle and Jocko.

Tim Kennedy's lies, stolen valor, and meltdowns have been entertaining though.

OP, yes it’s sad. Start looking and you will be disappointed. Sure there is some great heroes, but pretty much without fail the ones that write a book are lying. It’s the military way of bumping up recruiting numbers. Make it look cool and sexy. Anyone can be a hero, just sign this line. It’s not just the current conflict. Look at Alvin York-probably the biggest fraud of them all cause he not only lied, but his actions and stories kept true heroes from ever being recognized.

Do you want to see some bullshit???
Go to any VFW or American Legion and have a couple beers, it is absolutely rife with lies and stolen valor.
Disgusting.
Old men who’ve been there and done that or went close to there and did something- maybe supply or just drank and fucked whores . Drinking beer and telling g lies - that’s not stolen valor - stolen valor is using the things you didn’t really do, awards and experiences you do t have to make mo ey, gain fame and or both .
It’s kinda dirty and I do t like those that do it but it’s really no different then any other con man making a buck.
The VA now that’s a long con game to be envied. Horrible care , dealt scandals and theft for generations and still always asking for more money and no one ever held accountable- like ever .

Sorry for thread drift - point if you didn’t go there and do that don’t try to make a buck saying you did .

That is such BS, Luttrell lied on the AAR and then kept up the lie and wrote a book. The Navy might have pushed the narrative a bit for the good PR, but he is the one that made the whole thing up. He got busted and is now trying to cover his ass.

Interesting. I did not know that. I was going off his own admission but it makes sense that he would lie about that as a lot of "confessions" are only telling half of a lie.

Every Hollywood Seal is full of shit
Lutrell, Kyle, O’Neil …

Lutrell is especially bad since the taliban release the tape of the ambush and it was literally a 8v4 and in his book he makes it sound like it’s the alamos last stand. They also just followed their foot step and walk up to them, there was no goat herders and murder vote.

There are a few seals that have talked about it. Basically jocko was a terrible leader and kyle was under his command. They worked to pump up the sniper kills so a lot of sketchy war crimey shit was done. If you just search youtube you will find lots of talk about it.

Chris Kyle also lied about the superdome, he absolutely lied and defamed Jesse Ventura, he lied about his kill count. Oh and shot of a lot of innocent. Oh he also lied about his medal count for some reasons.
Greatest American sniper …

They both lied about a lot of the stuff they DID NOT DO. Here is an interesting read:

Funny how they were both good friends and they both wrote books......... and they both make shit up........ 🤔

Marcus Lutrell is not a member of Congress.

Nope. Lutrell ran for his life and then lied to save face.

He later spun the same lie into a cash-generating scheme, and celebrity.

He is now thoroughly disgraced.

Tim Kennedy's lies, stolen valor, and meltdowns have been entertaining though.

LOL- Tim Kennedy and his 50 grenade rucksack.

He has enough documented assclown behavior that is vouched for by witnesses- I just hope the story about maiming the Iraqi kid who touched his eyepro was also BS.

Chris Kyle was like a mini-Gallagher collecting sport kills against non-combatants, in order to fuel the insurgency and get more Americans killed.

Maj. Jacko, like Lt. Jake Portier in the Gallagher misconduct, buried his head in the sand, and supposedly even covered up some of his crimes.

It's actually something of a joke...

Jacko sells "Extreme Ownership" to civvies after a career ducking responsibility and failing to uphold the standard.

"The Murph" is the hardest CrossFit workout- named after a guy who was too lazy to bring along the crew served because it was heavy, was too lazy to bring along a real radio so he grabbed an MBITR, was too lazy to walk uphill so he told the birds to drop him right on top of the OBJ....

etc, etc..................

Brit slabinski is another Medal of Honor fraud. Thanks to him and his seal team running scared para-rescue man John Chapman died alone fighting the taliban on Robert’s ridge. Then there’s guys like my grandpa who had foot rot and baggage from Nam and Korea but he wouldn’t talk about it. If you tried talking about it he would dismiss it and drink a little harder to wash it away.

Ummm there are no majors in the Navy…..if you haven’t been in combat or the military you should just be quiet

I hate to say it, but whenever there is a war the propaganda machine is in full swing. Sometimes they find willing narcissists to go along, and in other cases...the hero character is completely made up.

An example that always stuck out in my mind is a story of a guy shooting a dude off a bicycle at 2,500 yards, and then shooting the dude again...the shots being made with an M2 and 8x optic. Having probably put somewhere between 15 - 25K rounds through an M2 with a 7x day optic myself ...there ain't no fucking way man. That is a 3 MOA (at best) weapon system, and the cone of fire will expand significantly as distance increases. I've hit tank hulls with decent frequency past the maximum effective range of that platform while farting around on a range...but it damn sure wasn't cold bore and was definitely part of a burst of fire.

^^ I remember reading that story in a book when I was a kid, thinking "wow, what a badass." And then by about my 10th year and 10,000th round thinking "So that was a f---ing lie."

There are still quite a few heroes out there, and I'll not cast very damn many stones - being that I haven't personally deployed with some of the dudes in question. However, there are things that come to mind that are just too outlandish for the possibility of truth.

Dudes with nicknames have a significantly increased rate of possessing stories that stray further from the truth IME.

I'll wait for some fanboys to start flaming me now.

this is all disappointing. i just thought seeking publicity was just a younger gen thing. but, happened in ww2-Audie Murphy and MacArthur being examples. what they did was pretty much real i think but resulted in big publicity. maybe more than justified?

what is the dirt on Alvin YorK? have no knowledge of that at all. never heard it before.
i do know that the Russians spread a bunch of BS about some of their WW2 military. i suspect Zaitsev and Pavlichenko got a lot of excess publicity. Germans did the same. the story on Kalasnikov is way propagandized.

I also heard a rumor years ago that Murphy shot another seal in training. Normally they would pull a trident but it was glossed over and they let him continue to lead men....his incompetence being a large factor in not only killing his team but getting a bird with over a dozen people in it shot down. I would love to know if there is any truth to the shooting in training.

So what's next, Desmond Doss is gonna get slammed too?

What's real, anymore?
I bet if you go back through history alot of "war heros" were either bullshit or it was a cover up.

The military has a way of awarding a bunch of medals when bad shit happens....as an excuse not to hold itself and it's leaders accountable for failures.

Jessica Lynch ( never fired a shot)
Pat Tillman ( shot by his own men)
Leanne Hester ( coward twat)

Most of us who have time in combat have seen shit that makes no sense. People awarded shit they never earned, guys who absolutely should have been awarded valor medals but got nothing, lies on AAR, coverups ect. I have buddies who died due to incompetence and the decision makers were given awards........they should have been given nooses.

Don't believe anything you don't see yourself and never meet your heros. You will almost always be disappointed.

I suppose it’s just like work - more often than not, it’s that guy who takes credit for others’ work, or makes himself look good by fabricating the backdrop of others looking bad, that moves up on the ladder.

They get ahead.

And the guys up in rank are likely cut from the same cloth.

Life is more “corporate” than you think.
