Re: REMINGTON RIFLE BARREL LIFE

A lot of that depends on who you listen to. Top end that I have heard is 8000 rounds. I also know of one guy that thinks he NEEDS to change barrels at 1000 rounds.
At 1500 rounds the groups might start to open up but by how much?

I have a Remington 700 ADL in 222 Rem. that has been shot to the point that the barrel had to be cut back. It will still shoot under a 1/2".

Re: REMINGTON RIFLE BARREL LIFE

Make sure you scrub them clean for the next 10 rounds EACH round, and then for the next 20 rounds every two rounds. Keep this up until the required 5 shot group and you should be go to shoot at least 50 rounds before cleaning.
Does that help a bit???

Re: REMINGTON RIFLE BARREL LIFE

When you know you are a good shooter and not f'ing up, but your shooting goes to crap, have it checked out. You may not need a new barrel; you may just need it cut back on the chamber end and rechambered to clean things up. Or you may need a new barrel or any number of other things. It is all dependent on the shooter and his/her shooting and maintenance practices
