Hi Guys,

I've been hearing about the RCBS X-Die for my .308. Anyone here
use them? How do they differ from the standard FL Resizing Die?
Pro's/Con's? Any other info?
Which set should I consider?

Thanks.

Mark

Consider them all. Then get any brand of conventional dies and learn to reload properly.

I have the conventional dies and am learning to reload properly.
I'm asking those here on this forum that actually use the X-Die for their .308 and what specific set works for them.

Re: X-Die Help

I have a set in 300Win.
As advertized the cases do not need to be trimmed.
My assessment is the RCBS X-dies are good enough for standard (not long range) hunting applications....Maybe high volume AR shooting, but IDK.

In a precision rifle they would not be my first choice as runout and neck tension are all over the map.

X-fan,

Are you saying wouldn't recommend using the X-Dies for shooting long distance precision shooting?

I shoot out to 1100-1200 yds. with my .308.

I'm reloading with Hornady 178gr. A-MAX bullets, Varget Powder, Federal once fired brass.

"You are better off trimming your cases. With firing and sizing the brass has to go somewhere. And will."

That's the right way to load.

Re: X-Die Help

Yes, I was taught to trim after resizing my brass which I just did yesterday with another batch. I was just wondering why some
guys were using this setup and the pros/cons of it.

Thanks for the help.

Roger that.

Just like Fuzzball said the brass has to go somewhere....You wont like the results or consistency.
