Gunsmithing X-mark Stoped Working Todya

I know its an easy fix but I'll be damned if it didn't do it at the range. So I get behind the rifle and start snaping in with no problems and load my first shot and fire it. Perfect dead center bull for the Cold shooter/bore shot (thanks Frank). The next shot I swear broke when I not so much as laied my finger on the trigger (not even enough to compress the skin) it landed about an inch and a half off to the side and pissed me off. I knew something was up but didn't quite suspect the trigger yet. It did this to me three more times before I was fed up with it and cicled the bolt closed on an empty chamber and saw that the bold didn't stay cocked. Well Chit, there's your problem. I cicled it a bunch more times, sometimes leaving it decocked and other times needing what felt like 10lbs to fire. I'm feed up with this x-mark and ready to get rid of it. Again, I know its an easy fix but I dind't get so much as 1 good shot outta the trip.

What's the easy fix? Did a screw come loose? Is it dirty?

screws backed out. Time for the nail polish treatment. Of the smash it with a sledge treatment.

I think I'll save the later till I have a replacemnt.

anyone know who else sells the wide shoe triggers like the old remmys.?

Got it, I was wondering because I think GAP has been using the X-Mark with good results, wasn't sure if there was something I needed to watch for. Guess I will make sure to seal the screws when I adjust it.

Also, Jard sells a trigger shoe, not sure if it will fit the X-Mark or not, but it looks to be pretty wide and ribbed for your pleasure

I sealed my screws after adjustments and it hasn't really fluctuated at all, so that does work.

However my adjustments mustn't have been the best because despite my reliable 3lb draw the break is somewhat mushy and not so crisp like I have felt on other aftermarket triggers.

The Timney Competition trigger is adjustable from 1.5-4 pounds and has a wide grooved shoe like the old Remington. In fact the Timney shoe is wider than the old Remy shoe. The Timney is a nice trigger too.
