It's not as simple as a new barrel and magazines. That also would require a different slide as the cartridge base of the two rounds are different sizes. While I know it's popular to do with Sig Sauers, I'm not sure if the XD line has that capability.

I'd tend to agree. A different spring might be required as well.

Did a bit more "reading" on this, so take it for what it's worth. There's conversion barrels out there but they've run into reliability issues due to the positioning of the extractor on the smaller size casings. If you're planning on doing this to save on the cost of ammo, you would probably be better off putting that money into reloading instead.
