Well, finally shot the YHM Phantom 7.62 QD. Put it on my RRA LAR8 and went pig hunting. Didn't see any pigs, but did manage to dispatch a raccoon at about 140 yds. First impression--Man that thing is heavy! The LAR8 is already heavy by itself. Add Viper PST scope, base, and a bipod and it is around 13 lbs. With ammo and can, it is a little over 15 lbs.

Sound was good. It took away most of the muzzle blast, but was still reasonably loud. My buddy didn't hear me shoot however (1/2 mile away and 10mph winds). It is perfect for hunting so I don't have to wear plugs, but I still wear plugs with it when target shooting. POI shift was 4 inches low and 1 inch left @ 100 yds.

The QD mount was different than some of the others I have played with (Gemtech, AAC), but locked up tight. I'm not sure about the long term durability of the mount with a lot of on/off over the years, but we shall see.

I went with the YHM mostly due to price as this was my first centerfire can (already have a Sparrow--awesome can!). My next rifle can is going to be titanium. I won't be shooting full auto in rifle calibers, so if I had to do it over, I would have gotten a lighter can.

I owned my QD Phantom just shy of four years. I drag out hunting and to shoot competitions, and I have never had an issue with it staying secure. The phantom is built like a tank and its weight reflects it.
