You are not forgotten Brothers...

If I may, I believe all who signed have paid and sacrificed on differing levels. I am deeply greatful to all of you and your service.
We must remember with great reverence those who died in battle. We must serve with great love those who have returned home with scars, open wounds, and the wounds to their spirit and soul.
God Bless you all and give you great comfort.

And I endorse this thread.

The speaches from the Greats are always hugely appreciated. My own personal issue with youtube video's though, is some blithering idiot thinks that by adding music makes things better. What's worse though, even though NO piece of music fits EVERYBODY'S taste, some think that by making the music louder than the speech is even gooder.

Seriously, what rocket-surgeon can't appreciate statements and sentiments simply as they are. Embellish things for your own use, don't destroy greatness for everyone else.

My two cents, and please,,,,, enjoy the respect of many, this Memorial Day weekend. There are many of us whom appreciate the efforts of many, for all.

Happy Memorial Day Brothers. Dad, the hell you experienced while serving with the Marauders in Burma and later losing your leg in Korea is not forgotten. RIP you tough Son of a Bitch.

1J04,

What Team of the Marauders? (I can't recall if we discussed this)

My grandfather was part of Red Team (1st Bn, Bravo Company, Hqs Plt. before the re-org). Small world...

Tomorrow, I train a new generation of Veterans about how to handle and fire the M1 Garand as VFW Post 9977 at Pearce, Arizona prepares for its 2017 Memorial Day ceremonies.

Foremost will be discussion/demonstration of proper handling and avoidance of Garand Thumb. I say this as an embarrassed recipient of Garand Thumb to my left hand. Further will be some insight into how this greatest of battle implements helped the Western World defeat fascism and imperialism. Later, after the ceremony Monday, we will get our hands dirty learning how to field strip and clean the rifle.

I can't think of a better way to spend my weekend. Every hour or two, I take a few minutes to do a little more work on my spit shine this weekend.

Great thread! Thank you to ALL that served, and especially to those gents here on the Hide! Life has its ups and downs, but I for one am very thankful for this great republic that I've had the privilege to live in.

Sorry for the late response my friend. All I know unfortunately is he was one of the original 3,000 volunteers of the 5307th. Was a M/Sgt and was in a Mortar Team. He never talked about it really and was seriously one angry Son of a Bitch upon return after Korea and limbless. Parents divorced when I was young, didn't know him to well despite trying.

I think we discussed this a tad in the past, but yes, small damn world. Not many of those boys still around.
