    .
so a fun little story from tonight....

i shoot in a weekly 100yd smallbore prone match........so i go and pick up my rifle that i loaned to a buddy and head to the range.

so i go to set up, and when i pull my rifle out, i notice the entire buttstock assembly is missing.....not in the box....not anywhere......well huh, a predicament.

    so i think about my options....do i not shoot?....do i shoot "f-class"?......nah, im a prone shooter....so im shooting prone.

i go and grab my trunk machette and duct tape... grab a piece of scrap 2x4 i found laying around.....and whittle myself this bad boy:

and a little more duct tape and ive got it securely( ish) attached to my rifle

    .

so i go ahead and get slung up.....and after getting used to not really having a cheek weld....i go ahead and get sighted in and start shooting.

and you know what......i didnt turn out half bad, not my finest shooting......but you know, ill take it over not shooting at all.

and on an unrelated note heres some tits to brighten up your day.

hey thanks.....yeah no reason to get all bend out of shape.....we compete for pride and pizza.....so its nothing serious, we mostly use it as training for nationals.

i figured if i was at an actual match, i wouldnt just pack up and go home....so what the hell, if it worked it worked, if not wed at least get a laugh out of it.

    its a MEC stock http://shop.mec-shot.com/mark-i-schafte/small-bore-stocks/mark-i-22-komplett.html

im currently shooting an anschutz square action with a shillen barrel.....things an absolute hammer.

honestly not a huge fan of the MEC stock.....it was pretty good when i still shot 3P......but since im primarily a prone shooter, i really kind of want a something a little more "classic" looking....something made from dead tree carcasses.

honestly i hate all the moving parts......i hate having to assemble my rifle....im lazy....i just want to pull it out of the box and go.

going to build a new rig in the fall, probably a Hall or swindlehurst action

May I recommend Master Class Stocks? Alex Sitman was my stockmaker of choice when I switched from service rifle to match rifle and midrange prone.

Say Mr Cameron have you ever been able to get your hands on a Bleiker, Grunig & Elmiger, or Walther KK500 or 300? Just curious how they'd compare against a new Anschutz. ..
I know Mr Chad Dixon (LRI) on here is set up as like some type of dealer or some type of relationship where he can get/sells the G&E triggers and per him "they are badass". Them Swiss damn sure build some serious target rifles.
308pirate you definitely need to go to the vintage section and post some pics in my thread and check it out! Buffalo Winter has put some awesome stuff up! Tanner, French Unique, G&E.. others have put cool shit up as well.. Coopermatches, etc.. go check it out!

personal experience with just about all of the Anschutz actions, bleiker, hall, swindlehurst......and a buddy of mine shoots one of the walther Kk300 alutecs......honestly they all perform about the same,

ive done quite a bit of testing.....and essentially it all really falls on the ammo and your barrel......so long as youve got a quality action, it really doesnt matter which one you use.....find yourself a lot of ammo that shoots well....and buy as much as you can.

i like heavier guns, which is why im planning on using one of those fat ass bench rest actions.....

but ive not come across any of the G&Es

Oh you thinking about a Turbo or something like that? Who would you go with for smith? Seems Mr Bill Calfee and Gordon Eck put out some killer rimfires.. also who do you like for barrels? I know the Benchmarks, Shilen ratchets, Mullerworks, and Broughtons are thought of real highly. Kinda strange that in centerfire, cut rifled barrels completely dominate yet in RF disciplines you're hard pressed to find many cut barrels at all and I wonder if it might be the button barrel makers going the extra mile in their lapping procedures, getting perfect amount of choke, etc to make up for any perceived disadvantages to the single point cut barrels..? Just some random thoughts don't mind me

right now im leaning towards a Hall action....buddy is currently running one and has been getting great results from it.

That and i want to be able to run rem 700 triggers, might try that timney calvin elite 2 stage custom trigger

and i use Shillen for all my barrels.....ive always gotten really solid performance out of them...so i see no need to try something different.

Regarding a smith, i do all my own work....i have access to a lathe and mill, so i never saw any reason to pay someone......pluss if i need to make alterstions, i dont need to go through the hassle of sending it back
