Must have been the early days of having China build our shit as it's actually made pretty sweet but the fan has become coated with waxes or oils through age and sitting. Needs to be cleaned and cleared.

Took all the Phillips screws out than found these cocksuckers....l

Triangle safety screws.

I used an Allen and got probably 6 of 8 to loosen. Been soaking them in Kroil and will try again on the stubborn ones.

Who the fuck is going to tell me it's unsafe to work on electrical shit by installing bullshit hardware?

Might have to try a reverse drill easy out and will replace everything with Phillips or slotted when done.

use a dremel tool and cut a flat slot into them for a flat screwdriver, before you try to loosen the screws, put an old screwdriver in the slot and whack it with a hammer. The screws will come out easier.

A lot of times you can get the same effect without the hammer by actually tightening the screw.

Tighten it JUST enough to see it move and break the grip.

I won many, many beer bets using this technique on aircraft screws.
Especially on those fucking coin slot bastards.

Stupidest fastener ever designed.
The slot is always too shallow for the tool that fits it and it's loose. Doesn't provide shit for grip of the tool.

I was just going to suggest making your own triangle driver by grinding the tip off a old screwdriver and then cutting the tip.

Of course I would also have you refinish the screwdriver handle and give it a nice Purdys warthog oil finish. And probably have the whole thing cold rust blued. And a case made for it out of the finest burl walnut.

Nice heater.

Well after all that ....when I got it apart found that the plastic hub on the fan was broke and getting the motor spinning is useless because the old plastic dried/cracked so I gave it a try but not going to go any further.

What was learned is that files are screw drivers.

Yeah first place I went. Had no idea how to measure size of driver based on the MC web page, where I did find measurements my calipers didn't seem to show the hardware I am dealing with correlated and right now I am not spending money on anything that is not critical life support.

Chances are I will never see a triangle screw ever again in my life.
