No comment on the out come but he did make it through that day.
I've taken one before with a knife and a Ridgeback. It's an experience I recommend you never try.
I did shoot a bird at 100 yards with my 44 (irons). NOLO whitnessed it and I called the shot. He still owes me 5 bucks. Also shot a doe in the head at 50 yards.
No comment on the out come but he did make it through that day.

When I was in college many moons ago I had the privledge of fishing this ole guys lake. Only part of the deal was, I had to take him if he wanted to go, as his wife said he was too old to go by himself ( 80+). Only hitch to that was, I used a canoe at the time.
So, one day we are out in the canoe, and we see a beaver swimming in the lake in front of us. Old man goes batshit, HATES BEAVERS! They did in the dam and it costs money to fix, that was the other part of the deal, had to shoot every one I saw. He hollers "shoot that SOB!!!" I did not have the 22 that day, had a 357 Security 6, for shooting snakes. So I turned the canoe catty corner, got as solid as I could sitting, told him to plug his ears, and let it roll. About a 100 yard shot and nailed the beaver, head shot. I thought the old guy was gonna turn us over he was so happy.
And I was smart enough to never try that shot again!

I have video of myself walking down the road just like you were with a 160 class whitetail not 20 yards in front of me eating corn we put out for pigs. He'd pick his head up, id freeze, he'd go back to eating, id walk forward.
He was pretty oblivious to me.

Yep deer are pretty stupid. Amazing the things they will do and net even care that you're there not even 3 feet away. Had it happen to me a few times. No pics though sorry. Had 3 does walk underneath my stand as I was climbing the tree. Wasn't even 6 feet off the ground.
