Zeiss Terra ED vs. Meopta Meopro 8X42

Looking at some entry level binos for range/match use, not wanting to drop $1k at the moment. I can get a better price on the Terra ED..

I looked through a pair of Zeiss Terra's and I wasn't impressed. I ended up going with the Nikon Monarch 5's. Both pieces of glass are made in China which pisses me off because I was under the impression the Nikon's were made in the US. Serves me right for not doing my research. Never looked through the Meo's but I've heard good things. The Terra's are heavy if I recall.

Cameraland did have some good deals on terra demos. Hard to beat for the price.

I tried both and ended up with a pair of Meopros. Really wanted to like the Terras but the image quality wasn't what I was hoping for.

Vortex Viper 8x42 is what I wish I'd really bought. They are more money, almost twice what the meopros cost but they are a better bino.
