Rifle Scopes Zero Stop Scopes? How do you set yours?

Re: Zero Stop Scopes? How do you set yours?

Yes, all of mine are below a 100yd zero. What happens if your stop is at a 100yd setting, an you find a pin point target, straight below you at night? Yes, I can just use the reticle also, but what happens if you are knob lost, at the same time?

Re: Zero Stop Scopes? How do you set yours?

My S&Bs come with about .6 mils below which is perfect in that I usually set mine at .5 mils below. The reasoning is that I go to matches and have to check my zero and if it's off it's usually not more than .1-.2 mils due to different temps/elevation etc. I like having a little below so I can make a quick rezero without having to mess with the knob before doing so.

With a 100 yard zero you should only have to dial up for any range so if you didn't want to have anything under your zero you could just set the NF zero stop at dead on zero.

Some advice on the four screws on the zero stop. Do not over tighten them. It doesn't take alot of force. Just snug them up.

Re: Zero Stop Scopes? How do you set yours?

Right now I have my NF ZS set at zero but the nice thing about the NF zero stop is that you can pretty much set it anywhere. For example, I can have it set up to stop .8 mils below zero which puts me dead on for my 110 V-Max load. That way all I have to do is spin the knob down to the stop, slip the turret and I'm all set. Simply reverse the process to go back to zero for 175 SMK's when I need or want to.

Can you explain Pin Point target and how you would adjust for it?

Much like the reason Rob sets his the way he does, I do as well, I just prefer to use a 200 yd zero. I will set my ZS to go 1 MOA below Zero. Its easy for me to spin down to the stop and add 4 clicks to be at my Zero but still have the ability to tweak a little below if necessary.

If you have a 100 yard zero and you find a target closer then 100 yards you need to add elevation not drop below your zero. A holdover is necessary.

A target that close that has to be shot fast you just hold the scope height above the point of impact you have.

With a 100 yard zero you will be dialing up for close targets. My 50 yard is .3 mils up, 25 yards is 1.8 mils up, 11 feet is about 13 mils up. All up or hold overs. That is why I like a 100 yard zero as there's no reason to dial below it once it's set.

Only when shooting ruffly horizontal,... however when shooting straight down, I prefer to dial out the off set, then one number is good to the target less any wind. Shooting horizontal is a dial up or hold and for mine it's 3.0 IPHY at 25, 1.5 at 50, an 0 for 75 to about 120yds.

A Pin point target, is any target that has to be hit within one bullet diameter. Power wire/cable, controlling/locking device, gateway to target ect. Any target that requires a bullet to strike a specific spot to disable or start a chain/cascade of events in any electrical or mechanical device. Specialty ammo is loaded/issued for pin point tasks, within some agency's. Remembering/knowing the least amount of numbers is good, when time is short.

Re: Zero Stop Scopes? How do you set yours?

Shooting straight up or down, at a pin point target.
The normal drill is, you dial out off set. Reticle cross hair is centered on target. Your off set is XXX, the XXX setting on your retical will be locked on point YYY of target, you now move your reticle cross hair to YYY and pull the trigger. It matters little the distance as long as the weapon is plum. If it's not plum your dope chart to a 10* angle will still get you, pin point.
