Rifle Scopes Zero Stop shims for Weaver Grand Slam Tactical 3-10x40

I tried to talk Tim Kulin into making some of these for these scopes but no dice. Reality is with a 20 moa rail I am only 5.5 MILs (one rev and .5 more) off the bottom of the reticle leaving me roughly 10 MILs to work with that is usable. It’s easy enough I have found to bounce down to the bottom of the travel and back up 5.5 MILs in my case if worried about it.

No one makes them. I got mine in yesterday and I took some measurements

This is the scope all the way low, the center brass is sunk into the scope body.

This is the scope all the way up, the brass center is now flush with the top of the scope body.

Some dimensions

The outside of the scope body is .944" wide. The outside of the brass piece is .655"

If there were a washer .940" outside diameter with each side of the washer being .050 wide (the thickness of the outside black portion thats flat), 940-(.050*2)=.840 internal diameter, it would ride perfectly on the outside of the scope body only and keep the turret from sinking into the scope body.

The turret has a maximum of .080" of total vertical travel. Obviously a spacer for all of that is not needed. I took that measurement by several methods. The first being with the depth gauge part of the caliper: .088 all the way low-.005 below truly actual flush=.083 of travel. Measuring from the top of the brass spline to the opposite side of the scope gives .077, the same but with the turret cap was .080.

There is a total of 16.5 mils of elevation so .080/16.5=.0048" of vertical change per mil. 5 mils per revolution means that one revolution would be .0048*5=.024 of travel.

So theres some numbers, now for finding shims that fit that...

EDIT: Never Mind - I missed where the I.D. Needs to be .840, was thinking .655.

Found this size Nylon Flat washer on Non-Ferous Fasteners Inc. - You would need to bore your I.D and do some filing to get the thickness right.

I found this fasterner company online (superior washer and gasket co) and I submitted a quote to them for washers .935x.850x.025 thick with a tolerance of +/- .005, I asked what 100 might cost. If its reasonable and they work right on mine Ill offer them up to all interested parties. That would be easier than trying to grind all of mine out myself.
