That's gotta suck for folks who paid GB prices for mega parts recently. Yikes.

yeah that seemed ULTRA dumb to pay whatever they paid for mega and their brand recognition, and then completely dump the name.

Also after Zev bought Mega they dumped a bunch of Maten parts on the market at really low prices. I think the receiver sets were like $250-$300. Maybe @4 years ago?

But did they acquire mega’s tooling from when they were at tumwater? The mega arms shop in centralia did not appear to produce the same end results.

The Tumwater's will always be the original, hope they can keep the tolerances as nice.

Yeah, I bought one of those sets.


I have wondered why they bought MEGA... well, since they bought them. Outwardly it looked like they bought MEGA and just dropped everything that was MEGA. Which made no sense to me, I'm surely no expert though -- but they seemed to be geared towards two completely different markets. MEGA was AR and Zev was glock accessories. Eventually Zev made some low tier AR's but they didn't look anything like the quality MEGA was known for.

My guess has been that they bought MEGA and the talent behind what MEGA was left the company at a time when trends were shifting to lightweight stuff. I have a 12.5" pistol built on their 14" keymod with matching lower -- that thing is a brick. I'll bet it weighs 10lbs bare. And that's probably why they tried to do something completely different.


I'm not sure, though, because it seems like a full year or probably two ago they said they were planning to bring the MEGA brand back for AR accessories.
