Movie Theater Don't watch movies thread

I don't know if we have a thread for this. In this day and age of shitty acting and shitty story lines we need it.
Maybe this will save people a lot of wasted time and maybe some rental money. I'll start with 2 movies I recently got from the red box.

Catch the bullet: Western with fucking horrible acting, same old mind numbing story line. I was stupid enough to sit through the whole thing

Survive the game: Cop movie with Bruce Willis. Turned it off after 10-15 minutes. I couldn't tell you much about it, just fucking shitty.

Not even Biden thinks mask mandates are necessary!

"At what point do everyday citizens decide that enough is enough? (Note that in some states, they already have.)

If the president can’t be bothered to abide by D.C.’s restrictions, why should anyone else?

Business owners ought to stop enforcing rules that clearly only apply to little people. If government officials object, tell them you’re just following Biden’s example."

REALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can a different muzzle device change barrel harmonics and effect accuracy

Question can a new muzzle device throw off a load/barrel harmonics. I just got my new Thunderbeast and put the TB brake on and the ultra 7 and it didn’t group anywhere near normal.

I also tried a new apa gen 3 fat bastard instead of the gen 2 I had on and it didn’t group. Just curious if you have seen that. Ive never swapped anything like that mid barrel life. This is a 6 dasher on a mullerworks barrel chambered by ATeam that generally shoots 0.3” or better all day. Groups were 0.5” and greater. This was also shot on a clean barrel.

Firearms WTS Howa 1500/KRG Bravo, new, $700 shipped

Nearly 2 years ago Brownells was seeing Howa BA's for ~$275 and my buddy and I each bought one... We both dropped them into Bravo's, and I built mine up into a pretty badass PRS rifle and burned out a couple barrels on it... while my buddy put a box of ammo (20 rounds) through his and put it back in the safe.

Well, I bought a new fancy rifle, and suddenly my buddy wanted to take my already tricked out Howa/Bravo off my hands, so I took his like-new one as a partial trade, and it has sat in my safe for a few months now... time to get it in the hands of someone who will actually use it.

Howa 1500 short action with a 22" Sporter profile barrel - 6mm Creedmoor
KRG Bravo for Howa 1500 FDE

Added/included:
EGW HD 20moa 7075 scope base rail
Gunbloke "Benchrest" trigger spring kit (adjustable from ~1lb-4lbs)
Magpul 5rd AICS
MidwayUSA Heavy Duty rifle bag

As-is it's already good to go as a light hunting rig, but with a barrel nut and Howage barrel it can easily be turned into a respectable PRS rifle or different cartridge if one wanted. My local gunsmith charged $35 to break the OEM barrel free on my first one, and everything else involved with spinning on a prefit can be done in a garage without any special tools really.
FWIW, if one wants it, I can include a 26" Crown Ridge Barrel Works MTU that still has a little life in it free (~1300 mild rounds on it, but you'll need one of their barrel nuts... my buddy had me twist on a new CRBW MTU when he bought the other one, and I reused the nut).

This will have to ship to an FFL of your choosing.

$700 Venmo or PP F&F (not looking for trades)

PM any questions.

Thanks.

Rifle Scopes Mk12 Scope for Modern Times

I just bought a PRI Mk12 Mod 0, and it will need some glass. I'm not a huge clone whore, so I am not dead set on trying to hunt down the old Leupold, nor am I set on running a SFP 2.5-10 NF scope.

If you were going to put a more "modern" optic on a Mk12, what would it be?

I'm looking to spend between $1700 and $2200. I've been eyeballing the 2.5-20 NX8, based off of the size, weight, reticles and pricing. Another option on the table is a Razor HD Gen III 1-10 (different class of scope, but very good in my experience, and would fit the bill). An older Leupold Mk6, or a Mk 5 in the 3.6-18 variety would be acceptable too. I would like something that's relatively light, compact, reliable and FFP.

Accessories SOLD: Manners PRS1 w/ mini chassis and 12" Arca

FS is the pictured Manners PRS1 stock with mini chassis, area 419 12" arcalock rail, and SAP 2 round holder. Stock inletted for Rem700 clones. I used with a Bighorn Origin and Heavy Palma. Selling because I am getting a lighter weight chassis. This stock has been rock solid and served me well for competitions, but is too bulky for me to hunt with.
Has two front and rear qd flush cups on the left side of stock and bottom of stock. Mini chassis has never been bedded.

Front most T-nut started to pull through the bottom of the stock (see picture) and Atlas pic rail wouldn't stay tight. I never tried contacting Manners about this nor repairing the composite myself, I just used it as an excuse to get the arca rail which is 100% solid.

$SOLD$ shipped & insured (mailed check preferred; if venmo or paypal buyer pays fees)

Only trades I would consider are for leupold mk 5 3-18 w/ pr1 mil reticle (with cash on my end ofc)

Thanks for looking

First few AR builds

Hello all,
I recently moved from a state in the north east that is one of the states that most firearm owners say they will never travel to and have now found myself in one of the freest states in the US. I grew up with firearms as a kid, but hadn't been around them because of the state I was living in. Now I'm in SC and free to start putting together a few AR builds that I had been saving up for and planning on for a few years while living in NJ. I have a few questions though.

I'm sure that JP has continuously improved upon their AR15 uppers over the years and hasn't been producing uppers like the JP15 and CTR02 exactly the same for the last decade. Uppers such as the CTR02 are listed on the JP sight and elsewhere as being "thermofit" but the listing from their JP15 upper doesn't mention it anywhere. The JP catalog also doesn't mention the JP15 being thermofit. On one single page for an already completed however, it does say the barrel was thermofield to the model listed on the JP website. I sent JP an email asking and I'm sure they will respond quickly, but I'm wondering if anyone has experience with the current version of the JP15 upper, if it's thermofit, and how it compares to say the BCM thermofit uppers that are half the price and more frequently in stock (right now for $90 blemished)?

I'm also torn between a 6mm arc build, a 6.5 grendel build, and a 223 wylde build. Two things are bringing me to lean toward 223 wylde over the other two. They are ammo availability during uncertain times as well as what I've read regarding reliability. I don't know how true the reliability statements I've read are. I guess in terms of magazines for 6mm arc and 6.5 grendel. I'm also thinking I should just go with 2 builds, a 6.5CM and a 223 wylde rather than trying to do a 6.5 or 6 on the ar15 platform.
Is there truth to the reliability issues I've read about related to the 6mm arc and 6.5 Grendel?

Dope shooting uphill - tell me why I'm wrong

Hi guys – During the Frank/Marc show in PA a few weeks back, we all found that, at range, our true dope was less than what the weaponized math predicted and that the delta between dope at increasing range was not incrementing up as we would expect. The dope kind of flattened out at range.

Now this is in central (maybe a bit western) PA and the shooting line is in the valley and once past about 600 yards, the range started to go quite steeply up the side of the valley.

Frank explained what we were seeing as being a result of our shooting uphill and he used a diagram something like this which seemed to make a lot of sense at the time. Looking at this, it seemed clear to us at the time that yeah, the horizontal distance is less so that’s less of an horizontal distance for gravity to effect the drop of the bullet hence why our dope was coming out less than expected (and yeah, I believe we can discount any impact of a greater loss of velocity from going uphill as that would increase our dope and not reduce it from expected as we found and as Frank explained).

1634519251548.png

Now, I’m sure that Frank and Marc are right and I am not. And that this is why most good LRF will give you horizontal distance as well as slant range, if so chosen.

But as I thought about this more, I don’t understand why they are right (yeah, ole’ Baron23 asking why, why, why once again! haha).

The acceleration from gravity is defined as 9.8 m/s/s (9.8 meters per second per second, right). Note, there is nothing in here about horizontal distance. The absolute displacement resulting from this acceleration is purely a function of the time period that the bullet is exposed to gravity….that is, time of flight.

So, looking at the diagram above, I’d like to use a very simple example. 1,000 yard range target and a bullet going 3,000 fps (1,000 yds per second, right?). Also, for simplicity, let’s assume it’s a laser and there is no parabolic curve to the flight path and that the velocity remains constant across the time of flight.

So, a bullet shot purely in the horizontal will take 1 second to go 1,000 yards and the resulting drop will be 9.8 meters based on gravity accelerating the drop for 1 second.

Where I’m confused is that when shooting uphill the bullet also has a flight path of 1,000 yards to the target so it should also be exposed to the acceleration of gravity for 1 second and therefore the drop should be the same…i.e. 9.8 meters. But of course, it’s not.

Now, I’m really confident that Frank/Marc are correct and that there is a flaw in my thinking on this….but I don’t know what it is.

Any view on this…any explanation for why I’m wrong?

George Soros Drops $1M To Stop City of Austin Hiring Police to Combat Rising Crime

Title pretty much says it all.

Austin used to be such a quiet, clean, safe little town. Now, the commie City Council ass-stains that are in Soro's pockets make me want to disinfect my tires whenever I return from there.

Rough weekend

So my wife takes our 15 yr old chocolate lab for a walk . All good dog is happy , sniifin shit and waggin tail . As they walk back up to the house my dog drops over dead . Wife managed to lean far enough to knock on the window alerting me .
Trixie was technically my Daughter's but she was my buddy . First dog in a while I hadn't gotten for hunting . Sorry I hadn't gotten a female 20 years earlier . She was an absolute Luv , true Beta female . Watched over everyone , gave attention and followed the Alpha Female ( my wife ) like she was attached . She passed Friday after dinner .
So today I forced my self to go to the pistol range . Needed to get out of my head . After the range brother calls and said Dad is assisted living and not long for this world . So I get local and info . An hour later Text " Dad died " .
I have been TKO'D twice , lights on and nobody home in my fighting endeavors . Feeling TKO'D .

Barrel threading

I do not understand this current trend of threaded barrels! It seems that most of the bolt action 22s I'm seeing or hear of being ordered have or will have threaded barrels. In over 50 yrs of shooting I have never owned a threaded barrel 22lr. Never had a need to suppress a 22. I suspect it's mainly due to to the current tactical fad. Tactical this tactical that. I'm currently looking for tactical underwear. I'm sure someone makes it. This is for you new shooters thinking about buying a new gun or having one built. Forget the barrel threads. I does nothing for accuracy. Just the opposite. If you remove metal from the muzzle end of a barrel it opens up the bore. That's the last thing you want if you're trying to squeeze every bit of accuracy from a barrel! Case in point. Anschutz actually leaves extra metal on the muzzle end of their match grade barrels. Custom remfire smiths taper lap barrels for improved accuracy. How many pure benchrest 22s have you seen with threaded barrels? If you need a suppressor in order to shoot a 22 in the area you live by all means thread. If not forget that tactical BS.

Midnight Mass

Midnight Mass
Mini-Series just out on Netflix , GOOD , and just right for the Halloween Season ...LOL .. great for giving the kids some Nightmares at bedtime .
Stars out a little slow for 1st few episodes building characters, and with showing a lot of little weird clues to what is Coming . Then It ALL starts to reveal itself .
.

Old eyes and good reticles

I am looking for a new scope in the <$4k range that will provide me with better reticle view of the hash marks (mils). Recent eye exam showed no problems, but I'm noticing that it is harder to see those hash marks in a FFP scope.

Would I be better off with a SFP scope and Mil lines or dots. I'm considering the NF ATACR 56mm lines, but am open to all suggestions as to another manufacturers. The scope will be used to max. distance of 1K yards. Other things I should consider?

Thanks
