It’s For Your Safety🙄

Katrina… NYC stop & frisk… Round up the usual suspects… It’s for your safety…

IIRC there was an incident a few years ago in Indiana(?) where the police put up a barricade, had everyone get out of their cars, handcuffed them and had them sit on the curb while their vehicles were searched for something that could identify one of them as a suspect in a shooting.

Now this.

Arrogant assholes is too polite a term to apply to these jackboots.

PRS comps take way too long

So I got talked in to PRS shooting last year and it was fairly new for many at the club. But has gained an even more following which is great. But damn the matches take up too much time. At least at our range it does. 60-80 shooters. 8 stages and it’s 4 hours + to shoot. Two hours of travel and then help clean up. It’s a 7 hour day. It’s why I gave up golf. The other reason so many shooters attend is that the range has 4 matches a year so I think that adds to the need to attend. Not sure what others see out there at there local range but it’s not really keeping me entertained anymore. More of a grind.

‘Would Have Gotten Us Killed:’ Soldiers Slam Microsoft Headsets After Disastrous Test

US Army Troops test Microsoft HoloLens

Alana Mastrangelo14 Oct 202228

Microsoft’s high-tech HoloLens headsets were recently tested by the U.S. Army, which found that they have significant flaws that soldiers say “would have gotten us killed,” according to reports.
More than 80 percent of the soldiers testing Microsoft’s headset — designed to give them a “heads-up display” similar to those used by fighter pilots — have reported feeling nauseous, getting headaches, or suffering eyestrain according to a U.S. Army report obtained by Bloomberg and Business Insider.
Microsoft’s Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS), is supposed to let commanders project information onto a visor in front of a soldier’s face, and include features such as night vision.
“The devices would have gotten us killed,” one soldier said of Microsoft’s headset, referring to the light generated by the goggles when they’re active, which could alert the enemy to the soldier’s location on the battlefield.
Nickolas Guertin, director of Operation Test and Evaluation, concurred, saying the system is still experiencing too many failures of essential functions.
This comes after the Defense Department gave Microsoft a contract worth nearly $22 billion to build the devices for the U.S. military.
In a statement, Microsoft said “our close collaboration with the Army has enabled us to quickly build” and modify the device “to develop a transformational platform that will deliver enhanced soldier safety and effectiveness. We are moving forward with the production and delivery of the initial set” of devices.

Bloomberg reports that the test results will be assessed by lawmakers as they decide whether to $424.2 million the Army proposed to spend on the program this fiscal year.

Defiance not accepting orders

Tried to get an order placed for a new action with defiance. They said they are not currently accepting new orders because they are backed up with existing orders. Moral of the story: I need an action made for 300 prc in a left hand configuration. Defiance is what was recommended, but looking for other options as well. I am building my first custom bolt gun.

What to do after you hit a deer on the way to work......

You screw around in the reloading room.

At roughly 4am, I hit a deer on the way to work, actually two deer as she was pregnant. What a deer is doing pregnant this time of year, must have been a slut. So they haul my poor truck to get fixed. So I go back home and load some 3006. So I did that and decompressed a bit.

After a dozen calls to ins, and body shops to see how long it is going to take to get my car back I start to try to figure out what am I going to drive in the short term. Well I have a choice between these two running "cars"

This one is going to be just a tad chilly with temps at 40F, and no windshield.

An 850 Fiat spider, and as I enjoy little cars to play in, driving one to work daily is not going to be fun. Hopefully I can get an estimate on the timeline on my car.

I also have an '86 Fiero, but it has not moved in several years, I was going to sell it with the stupid car prices this year, but my health just sidelined that.

So riding to work in this old girl, in the dark, with 1960's headlights.....lets just say tech has come a long way.

You people in Virginia need to take care of this

If this shit doesn't move you do take care of business, I don't know what will.

Looking to contact Vern Harrison, Central Virginia Tactical.

Hi Members:
I am hoping someone can help me get in touch with Vern, I had not talked to him in a while. The last number I had for him was 540-967-7299, came up out of service, also called 540-967-5225 ( wife number, no answer) . I had trained with Vern years ago and was hoping to hook up with him at the end of the month as I will be in the area, please pm me if you have info.

Much appreciated:
Mike

Newbie question: Expected zero change from ground to bench

I frequently go to my indoor range to shoot to 100yds, especially when I've modified my rifle to re-zero things in, before I head to my outdoor range. The indoor range only allows a bench setup for shooting (no laying prone). I'll get my 100yd 0 in tight, perfect. Then on a different date, I'll head out to my longer outdoor range which has targets up to 2000 yds. I'll often take a few shots at 100yds laying on the ground and usually find that I'll have to make some minor adjustments (just a mil or so) to regain that tight zero.

Is this expected?

Does the few feet change in elevation (from ground to bench) change things that I have to account for or am I just being a newbie shooter and not either zeroing like I should or not shooting as well as I should?

Recoil from Suppressed Lightweight 300 PRC

Shooters,

I have done best due diligence to research previous threads, but I am having trouble getting the data I want. I am considering a Seekins Havak Element in 300PRC (6 pounds), to be fitted with a Thunderbeast Ultra 7. My only experience shooting a lightweight rifle is my .308 Sako Finnlight II, about 7.5 pounds with scope, no can and no brake. Recoil with that rig shooting 165s was smart but tolerable. I know a brake would be more effective but aside from the CB brake/mount inside the Ultra 7, I'm not into shooting with just a brake. i.e., unsuppressed. Can any of you experts tell me how much worse recoil would be with the Element?

Thank you in advance,
--Matt
