Before I am crucified for asking, I have been looking through the forums for this answer and have found none, which is odd for how many times it's been asked.

Long story short, I have a little bit of cash, and I've built quite a few ARs. I have been researching like crazy on building a bolt gun in 6.5CM. I keep coming back to the same question on actions. I understand that Tikkas are great actions, and don't have as much after market support as others. I'd probably just do a trigger spring, stock and new barrel after I shoot the Tikka barrel out, And be happy as long as it's at or under 1/2 moa.

BUT, and a huge BUT, my concern isn't which action is incredibly smooth. The most important thing to me is durability. Would a bighorn origin, or defiance tenacity barrled action be more durable? From what I'm seeing, I could almost get 2 Tikkas for the price of one barrled action. But again, I want durability. Thanks

usually shooting 77 gr match type ammo out of my "precision" ar,, (jp barrel, nice trigger, etc) i guess i should just try it and see but has anyone tried it. if i wasn't concerned about the extra weight,, would my 338 tbac ultra, despite being for a much bigger caliber, be quieter than my .30 cal harvestor or spec-war 223(heavy steel) i use a superlative adj gas block that i adjust to just barely cycle.

Well, yes...its a ring and its black so I'm assuming carbon but is this what people are talking about when they have concern/performance issues resulting from a carbon ring?

I'm guessing that the ring forms just past where the neck of the case stops...that is, right at the beginning of the free bore? Right?

Sorry my pic isn't that good...I need to experiment with this less expensive bore scope (Teslong) and see if I can up the quality. But this ring is showing at a point that appears to me to be back from from the little constriction which I assume is where the neck ends....right???

Still downsizing the collection. Almost done, but this is the last rifle I’m letting go. 2017 small firing pin AXSA in green. Rifle comes with 4 mags, four sections of rail, hardware from the factory, and hoptic cheek pad. Barrel was bought aftermarket from Euro and has exactly 100 rounds on it. It’s threaded 5/8x24 and has thread protector. Small nick on muzzle end visible in pics. It is the 10 twist as opposed to the factory 12 twist. Rifle has exactly 300 rounds total on it. I gave the 260 barrel to my brother.

I took my wife for a minor out patient surgery and was told I couldn't enter the building, they said I had to wait in the parking lot and they would bring me bottled water if I would like some. I said no thanks on the water as I would have to use a restroom and they said Oh you can come in for that but wear a mask. Of course the procedure was delayed and I went in to pee and they have a waiting room at least a 100' X 75' with comfortable seating six feet apart! I told them it's hot out in the car, and there's only 5 other people waiting, why can't we wait in here 20 some feet apart. She said it's the rule. I said that's great it's against the law to leave a dog in a hot car but not your patients? I told her I was going to a nearby restaurant to wait and she then told me I had to be on the premises before the will do the procedure. OK how long before we start and she said she would call my cell phone to let me know. You can't make this $h1t up

Update: I forgot to mention the best part, we had to be there at 9:30AM and we left at 3:00PM, the procedure took all of 15 minutes not counting recovery time of about a half hour.

I am trying to take off an old Redfield scope of a family heirloom Remington 700 and upgrade it to some good glass. It appears there is a screw still holding in this base but I have no concept of how to get to it. It appears to be under the front scope ring but again, I have no idea how to get to it in order to remove the base. I am probably having a short bus moment. Any help would be appreciated.

I just got the call, I have an appointment w neurology for precursor to surgery.

I have an AR15 that I use for PRS and want to tune my load at 600 yards. The load that I have been using for quite some time is a Hornady 75 gr. BTHP with 23.5 grain of XBR 8208 under it. I am not seeing any pressure signs but think that 23.5 is close to a maximum load. The base to ogive distance is 1.821" and the bullet jump is 0.022". The average velocity is 2862 fps (shot out of a 22", 1-7 twist, 4 groove, Bartlein barrel). The Std.Dev. on velocity is 11 fps (based on labradar data but not very high round counts (four sets of 10 shots)).

At shorter ranges the rifle shoots 0.75 moa, but I have never grouped at longer ranges. I know that accuracy really starts falling off at 900 yards but expect that I am beginning to go transonic at 800 or so. Switching to 75 ELD-M, should get me to 1000 yards but I want to burn up my BTHP bullets first.

Anyway, I was going to load 5 rounds starting at 23.0 grains and going up to 24.0 grains in 0.1 grain increments and shoot at 600 yards. I am going to look at group size as well vertical dispersion. The vertical dispersion will be compared to the muzzle velocity (which should correlate). Anything else that I ought to consider?
