The my way or the Highway(liberal version)

A very good friend of mine has had a Trump flag and a few different banners on his fence over the past couple of years. He lives in town. Last year someone stole all the banners off his fence so he bought a new one. Since then he’s started getting letters in the mail. This is one of the better ones.

F---Frigidaire

So we have a Frigidaire "Professional" double wall oven and a couple days ago wifey was using the lower oven and it was overheating as the top broiler element wouldn't shut off once it came up to the setpoint. So I proceed to go on the web for possible problems and fixes and turns out maybe the temp sensor is bad and they say to take it out and check with an ohm meter so I did and it's reading OK range about 1152 so now www says it's likely a bad controller (read circuit board). Well what next says I. Called Frigidaire's help line and spoke to someone in india or fuckistan and after explaining my predicament and giving him the model # and serial# he says, oh that's a tech issue and you need to call our AE people and he gives me that number. So I call them after first doing a little research to find the correct part number. Call AE and get some other foreign sounding dude (hey not meaning to be insulting here as I'm a Texan and most other people think I sound strange) go through my story again and bottom line, the circuit board/controller for our oven is no longer available, (part number 316443883). So I ask him what are my options? He says, "I guess you'll have to replace the oven". And I'm like WTF this thing is only 9 years old!! and you don't make parts for it anymore?!?
A new freaking double wall oven is around $2,000 and all it would take to fix the one I have is freaking part that was going for $250!?
Any of you appliance guys on here have any ideas? Maybe someone that has Frigidaire parts stashed?
I did find a site that says they can "rebuild" controllers for $200 but I leery of that.
Anyhow rant off and y'all have a Merry Christmas:)

A weird thing happened to my NRL22 rifle

So I have a Begara B14R with a 30 MOA base and a Vortex Strike Eagle mounted. I’m zeroed at 50yds and I still have 6.3 MILs I can dial down. I would like to get out as far as I can so I decide to get a Bobro 20 MOA scope mount which should take up another 5.8 MILs. When I tried to zero I dialed all the way down and I was still 5.3 MILs above my crosshairs. I can’t figure out what happened 🤷‍♂️

Any ideas?

Is something going on in Ukraine?

Noticed somethin kinda odd. All the US and NATO planes along the Russian borders and for the most part in Europe stopped transmitting info on ADSB (Push the U button on the map display, which removes all general traffic and shows only .mil or "unusual" traffic)

Looking back in the states, a Navy E6 TACAMO just left Patuxent and headed inland:

Should be a slow traffic time anyway, but the past weeks / months we or another NATO ally have drones or rivet joints running a regular route around the black sea just to let Ivan know we're watching. Also there's always lots of .mil traffic here and there in Europe. Right now it's tumbleweeds.

Japan and AUS are also mighty empty.

Nobody would pull any shenanigans on Christmas Eve, would they?

Giraud Trimmer Spanners

So I bought a Giraud Trimmer a year or so ago, and when it arrived it didnt include the two small spanners. Ive made due with using a nail and a wrench, but would like to get some of the propper tools for the job. I have contacted Giraud, and they’re $7 each….however, since covid, he has been worried about items getting lost in the mail, and now just the shipping alone is over $100 USD to Canada. I refuse to pay that. So, I was curious if anyone knows the dimensions, or even if these things can be found elsewhere. Even if someone with a Giraud can send me the specs for it, I can probably get something similar to work.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Maggie’s First NCOIC of the US Army Sniper school dead at 78

SFC (retired) William W. Knox II was the first NCOIC of the US Army Sniper school at Ft. Benning Ga. He died on 10 December 2021 in Idaho.

There was not much of an obituary in the local paper, just that he lived from 1943 until 2021. He deserves more, so this is my attempt.

Billy was born an “honest to God” Idaho cowboy. His family brand is the Spanish Bit. It looks like two backwards S’s with a bar between them. I’d go to his house and paw his 73 Winchesters, and other family guns. “That one’s killed it’s man” Billy would comment.

Billy was the only guy I ever met who did divorce intelligently. Back in the day, when you got divorced you paid alimony until your ex-wife remarried or died. It took a real dope to remarry and kill the cash cow, so you paid your ex-wife until she died. Not Bill. He paid her off with one lump sum, then he was done dealing with her. She was free to remarry. Smart, better to pay the banker for 5 years, than her for life. Billy never remarried, but was often in the company of an attractive woman. He was a pretty smooth talker.

While stationed at Ft. Benning, Billy was tasked with forming the U.S. Army Sniper School from scratch. This was an awesome undertaking, and Billy was the man for the job. Ft. Benning is not only the Infantry’s school house but also the home of the Army’s rifle team and some of the world’s most famous riflemen. The early classes were taught by the Army’s best riflemen; Billy was never one to do it half-way. Classes started 11 July 1987, and since then Army Snipers have put down a lot of bad men.

While stationed at Ft. Benning, Billy also started prepping for retirement. He told me, “those guys out west have never seen an alligator. I think they’d pay to see one”, and a plan was born. He designed a stainless-steel trailer, where he could sleep upstairs, and Ally the Gator would be down stairs. Never one to go off halfcocked, he did his homework by studying how to care for an alligator, what diseases they were susceptible to, etc. What worried me was he planned it all around a 14-foot gator. Weem’s pond on Ft. Benning had a 14-foot gator in it, and I was afraid Billy would ask me to help him steal it. I know nothing of wrangling gators, but I’d have been there with a rope and waders if he had asked. I needed not have worried. He bought one somewhere, took it out west and became a Carnie. He would send me T-shirts and ball caps with teeth marks across them and blood streaming down advertising Ally the Gator. He had a blast until a heart problem slowed him down.

He went back to Idaho and moved to the end of the road, where he spent his last years with his rifles and his dogs. He kept his eye on the sniper world, made trips back to Ft. Benning, and stayed in contact with old friends. I’d get an E-mail with the subject line of THAT’S BULLSHIT!! and I knew it was a video by a know nothing wanna-be about sniping. Billy took it personally.

They buried SFC William W. Knox II on the 16th of December. Don’t send flowers. Fill your glass with some fine scotch and toast the man who brought sniping back to the U.S. Army. Then fill it again for the men that he trained either directly or indirectly who have as Billy’s old 73, “killed their man”.

Is my Giraud broken?

I see that everyone is getting the Henderson, does that mean that my Griaud no longer works?

Just joking, but it seems much simpler than my Giraud (plus one size fits all). I saw the F-Class John video where he compared the two and got better results; havent tested myself so dont know. Does anyone have any experience with both - anyone else compare? Any thoughts on trimming to length via the base as opposed to the shoulder? And if your headspace is consistent does it even matter (I suppose that applies to both)?

Avoid vendors who want you to pay using Paypal's Friends and Family feature

If any vendor ask you to use Paypal's Friends and Family feature to send them money, run, run, run. Don't do business with them. It is likely a scam and you won't be getting your money back. I've come across a bunch of ammo-selling web sites with prices on ammo to good to be true (one-third of what the same ammo is selling for everywhere else, if you can even get it). Everything looks great...supposedly rave reviews...until you go through the payment part of the checkout. The checkout process doesn't include any option that allows you get your money back if the seller is fraudulent. This includes Paypal's Friends and Family feature. Real vendors don't ask for Friends and Family payments. So, if you see prices too good to be true and all the payment options don't seem to give you any money protection, don't do business with that web site or vendor.

Rifle Scopes One scope on multiple rifles? Does it work?

I’m playing with an idea and am looking for any experiences or opinions. This new year I’m changing up my scope setup because I wanna try and get a scope I’ve always lusted after. I currently have a razor HD Gen II on my comp rifle and 223 trainer. Both with EBR-7C reticle.

I have always wanted a Zco scope but can only afford one at this time. Which means I would have to swap it between my comp and trainer rifle while I save up for a second one later. Is that practical or a hassle?

To me it seems like it would only take a couple shots to sight in and it would be good to go on the trainer and I could keep the zero for the comp gun. So doesn’t seem too bad in my head. Am I overlooking anything? Anyone have experience with this kind of a scenario? These are the only two rifles this gun would live on.

PRS Talk Mulligans?....Really

As if it can't be any more stupid, now I get a survey asking about mulligans.

Listen, I know everyone pulls a bad shot or has a bad stage, but let's get real.

You're an adult.....and should act like one. If you need to somehow be compensated for your lack of ability in this game, go do something else. Like golf.

Everyone now should have already moved to a 20+lb 6mm variant with a quality optic and ballistic software and near scientific level of reloading capabilities if you're participating in this game. So really the only true variable is you (and a bit of wind😏).

So if you wiff a stage or shot.... OWN IT.....and move on. No one cares, get over it.
