Why the hate on a forward assist?

I don't really understand why people hate having a forward assist. Is there something I am missing?

Only times I have ever had to use my fa have been because I only shoot supressed and after 500 rounds or so, things start getting caked up.
If a round struggles to chamber all the way, one click on the fa usually keeps things rocking till I can throw more lube in there or strip and wipe everything down.

I guess to me it's kinda nice to know I'm fully in battery with a quick push....

So what's the deal?

ATF Games

This may be old news to some of you, but we are just starting to see it here. IF you are 18,19, or 20 years old, the ATF is "delaying" your purchase of long gun or shotgun for 10 days +/-.

Example: Neighbor kid that is 19 purchased the SA 2020 Waypoint in 6mm Creed. Arrives at the FFL yesterday. He goes in, fills out the paperwork, and it comes back "delayed". This individual is clean as a whistle and does not have a common name. Can expect the transfer to happen no earlier than December 15. He had purchased a 17 HMR a couple months ago with no issues. Gun store owner says this is relatively new and is happening to all that fit into that age group. It's a non-written "cooling off" period according to the minimal information the ATF has given him.

So, here is a good young man getting involved in our sport and being messed with if you ask me. He's disappointed as you can imagine, but has accepted it. I'll post when it actually goes through.

Games...

It’s No Wonder Recruitment is Down: Sexually Deviant O-6

Along with everything else going on in the military it’s no wonder people are reluctant to enlist. I wouldn’t recommend today’s military to my worst enemy.

If this creep was ever a POW he would probably enjoy all the torture the enemy would give him.

Reloading bench surface

I built a reloading work bench about a year ago. Thing is sturdy and level as can be, but it's made of 2x4s and the top is sande plywood that is stained from locktite and grease and kind of beat up.

It looks like an eye sore. Any ideas for a durable top surface? What do you guys use? Was thinking about painting it with porch and patio paint? Sheet metal the top and paint the legs?

Thanks fellas

Primer Blow Out

This is probably not the forum because this happened with factory ammo but other forums on the site don't seem to fit this post either.

After shooting about 350 rounds of the same lot # of 6mm ARC Hornady 108 ELD factory ammo, on the third round of the morning I felt a bit of extra recoil and this happened:

IMG_2942.jpg

The bolt locked up and lucky for me there was a very nice guy shooting next to me that had all the tools. We put a rod down the barrel and he tapped on it while I hit the bolt hard with my hand and the case finally came out.

The action and bolt had no damage (Defiant Machine), but I didn't know if there was more damage and on top of that we could not find the primer and didn't know if there was.

My friend said "no problem" and produced a bore scope. After a through inspection, other than tiny loose bits of brass in the barrel there was no damage. And then we found the primer. It had gone in the magazine and then fallen to the ground when I removed the magazine to clear the rifle.

One in a million? I sure as hell hope so!

San Fran: Just another WTF moment....

The Abundant Birth Project began in June 2021 to serve pregnant women with $1,000 monthly payments over 12 months to 150 people. The program is intended to "reduce the racial birth disparities by easing economic stress."

On Tuesday, San Francisco's Department of Public Health announced a $5 million grant in state funding to expand the program in Alameda, Contra Costa, Los Angeles and Riverside counties for the next two to three years
