Throwing a little shade at some high end ARs

Disclaimer - all of this is my personal experience -Disclaimer.

KAC SR15 I have approximately 1400 with this rifle and I sold it. My issue with it is that the gas system is very tightly tuned. By that I mean if I was not using very specific ammo, I had feeding failures. In addition, every three or four hundred rounds I needed to clean the rifle in order for it to function properly.

Radian Model 1 - I actually don't have anything bad to say about it. It has functioned flawlessly, a much better experience than the KAC for instance. I sold mine and replaced it with the ADM UIC MOD 2. For those that are not aware a Radian is effectively the ADM with very little difference but more than 1k more expensive. That is a lot of money for a roll mark.

Bravo Recce - I kind of liken this AR to a Glock. It is very rugged and it is very reliable. It just works. My issue with this one is that it is very over gassed and was just unpleasant to shoot. Sold it as well as I did not want to replace the fillings in my teeth.

A common positive of the above three rifles is that their brand names have real value. I made money on the KAC and Radian, the BCM was close to break even.

The three rifles that I am currently rotating through when I shoot now are

1) ADM UIC MOD 2 - if you like the Radian you will like this rifle. It is a little more gassed than the KAC but it is not unpleasant to shoot in anyway. It is a 1 MOA rifle at 100 yards and I now have a little more than 4k rounds through it without a failure of any kind including shooting some crap steel cased ammo, being rather rough with it, and not cleaning or maintaining it religiously.

2) JP - 15 Professional Rifle - As much as I like the ADM, the JP 15 is just a little better. The JP is a sub MOA rifle at 100 yards. On several occasions we have shot a couple of rifles and it prints the tightest group. The JP is the most pleasant to shoot, the tuning on the gas system (adjustable gas block) along with their bcg and their buffer (silent capture spring) are all very nice. I use a Dead Air can and the JP results in the least amount of gas in the face of all of the DI guns that I have shot. Unlike the ADM, I do need to put effort into cleaning/lubing this rifle.

3) The PWS Mk 114 Mod 2 - for those that don't know, this is an AR style platform that utilizes a long stroke piston like an AKM. This is far and away my favorite rifle to shoot with a can and none of the DI rifles really compare. It has a 3 setting adjustable gas block and when you set it for suppressed you can just go to town with it. This rifle is currently at 5200 rounds and again not a single failure. Because most of the gas is vented up front, you almost never need to clean it. It is another accurate rifle in that it is 1 MOA with most of the ammunition we have used. My gripes are minor, I would recommend changing the trigger and it does not have a forward assist.

Anyone getting “sell us your house” calls?

Not sure if it’s just my area or I just got unlucky. I’ve had a few “your car warranty is about to expire” in my lifetime but the number of “hi my name is xxxxxx I’d like to buy your house” they never make an offer. They just ask how much I want. It’s not even fun anymore.

I’m even getting txt’d and calls for properties I don’t even own. I will admit those are fun to set up a showing knowing I don’t even know what address it is.

All this action is in AZ. Some PHX addresses but not all PHX addresses, so it’s not a PHX thing but so far all the properties “they” think I own are all in AZ so far.

You fellows getting these annoying calls and txts? Some can’t even speak engrish

SOLD TS Customs 22LR RIMX

Rifle is my last of the custom 22 stuff I own. I acquired this rifle new from a close friend and I’m just not going to mess with it further. My focus is on the PRS Pro Series and hunting.

Specs - complete build by TS Customs, will include build sheet.

RimX action
Trigger tech diamond pro curve
Benchmark 1:16.5TW 26” MTU non threaded cerakote is black
McMillan A6 inletted and bedded by Travis
Stock has Mlok rail in fore-end
Hawkins DBM
2 mags, one that has the 5rd extension
New style bolt extraction kit

This rifle feeds flawlessly and is an absolute hammer. I have shot it out to 360 yards and have never had one single problem out of it over the last 600ish rounds. I’m selling because I simply can’t see a 5k rifle sitting around being used once or twice a year to mess around at local 22 matches. I have a purpose build CZ that I will do that with.

If you don’t know about TS Customs and their build quality, do your research. The fit and finish is amazing. I currently have 2 builds at his shop, several in my safe, and my wife and I are shooting his rifles for this next PRS season.

ARCA rail, scope, and rings are not for sale.

Price is 4200 shipped from an individual OBO.

*NEW PRICE 3900 SHIPPED!*

Maggie’s The Official Beer Snob Thread

As the "what are you drinking now" thread is mainly geared toward spirits, I felt we needed a thread dedicated to discussion of really high quality brews. Cheers!

This just came in today at my local store.

It's this year's version of Stone's winter seasonal spiced imperial stout. Smells of baking cocoa and cinnamon -very Christmassy, and all the flavors are well-balanced. 8.5% abv. Really enjoying this one!

Gunsmithing Orange Vise/Area419 Collab

Ok, ive wanted an Orange Vise for a about 2 years now. I now have a better reason to buy one besides the fact they are awesome. @flyer1a nice work.

Oh and anyone balking at the price, these vises alone direct from Orange are normally around 1300 bucks. So 1150, for this package isnt bad.

Hide Aviation

A fair amount of fellas here involved in aviation. Post up pics of equipment, experiences (there I was upside down in a thunderstorm 😊), you’re daily lives burnin’ 100LL or Jet A, etc... Whether you do it to pay the bills, just for fun, or just interested. We all file a flight plan through a ballistic calc or Fltplan, it’s the same, but different. Post away.

Advice on pre-64 Model 70

I’ve inherited my grandfather’s pre-1964 Winchester Model 70 in .30-06, made in about 1947. Dad was much taller than me and fitted it to himself, including a thick rubber buttpad glued to the stock. The LOP is absurdly long. I don’t know how it’s possible that I learned to shoot on that rifle from the age of 10 or maybe younger.

Should I fit the rifle to myself to use as a deer/elk hunting rifle, if the opportunity arises? Including cutting the wooden stock shorter, if necessary? Or should I leave as is and treat as a collectible heirloom?

The scope is a badass Easton duplex from shortly after the dawn of time.

My AXSR and SCAR 20S are awesome but maybe not ideal for hunting.

Thanks in advance for your wise counsel.
